Fanning staff/duals is stupid because of how fast it is and how much damage it dishes out. In JA+ MP damages, damage is calculated partly by the velocity of your saber when it hits. Take the Red right swing for example, if you hit a person with the beginning or middle of the attack you will do a ton of damage. But if you hit them with the end of your attack, when your saber is virtually motionless, you will do mediocre damage. In fact, a person can block the attack WHILE IN BLUE if you hit them with the slow side of the attack.

This makes fanning do retarded damage because your character will constantly be swinging his saber at maximum velocity. If you try and hit a fan spammer with the early/late part of your red attack, you will be deflected and possibly knocked back. Since most people in JA don't properly aim/time their attacks, it gives the illusion that staff/dual fanning is unbeatable.

But fanning is punishable by using calculated and well timed attacks. Whether its in red, or yellow, or staff/duals. Fan whores just attack left/right because their to narrow-minded to try different attacks. If you just fan and spam constantly without any thought to aiming/footwork, your about as intelligent/skilled as those noobs that run around spamming duel saber kata. But if fanning is just a tactic that you use along with other skillful attacks, then you can call yourself a fighter.

If staff fanning wasn't so broken and hard to punish in JA+ MP, I would have no problem with it. I use fanning frequently when I fight, but I'm actually aiming my attacks to do more damage or block a swing. I'm not just mindlessly spamming an attack because I can't aim. Sometimes not fanning puts you at a huge disadvantage, such as using blue.

When you become better at fighting and aiming, you realize that fanning is not un-beatable. In fact it leads to predictable movement and can be countered with good footwork and aim. I fight yellow fan whores in Red all the time, and in very close quarters to.

Oh and blue is epic for everything except Vs Yellow, but I don't often fight Yellow vs Blue so I don't know. However, I use blue against Red/Dual/Staff fighters all the time. The fast attacks and low swings can slip through defenses easily. Its interesting to note that the Overhead Blue swing(forward or backward + attack) has a longer range than a red attack!

That is mostly true, it seems that every attack in blue has a point were it glitches and extends the saber way longer than usual.

you can extend any swing to a length it wasnt meant to be, its called rotating at the right point the right distance.

What do you mean by extension?

In JA, poke has two meanings:

1. "Natural Poke"
Turning your character so that your attack comes out earlier than usual. For example, if your character is going to swing right, you turn so that your target is left of you.

2. "Full Poke" or simply "Poke"
The same as the first definition, only you turn your character while the saber swings so that the saber stays inside your opponent. Insanely deadly in SP/Base, poking still works on JA+ MP, but it is not nearly as effective as base and is a lot more punishable.

By extension were you referring to a poke? Or something else?

Extensions are exactly as they sound. They extend the hit radius of the swing. Sess has hit me from 7 ft away with a yellow extension. It's so frigging annoying lol

Yea, you have to shift your body at the rite point and the saber will jump out unnaturally. it extends the swing alot farther, also you can glitch it in yellow like sess does, which allows you to hit from 7 feet away.

Oh I get it now. I kinda knew that the direction you move your character while you swing can glitch the animation, didn't realize you can glitch it that much Shocked
