The debate of...
I figure I have a right to respond. Continuing off the 'I have the gunz' post.
This is ridiculous. You didn't think to draw the line when I was the one who was being insulted. But when something was said against you (and it really wasn't against you but against your arguments) you decided that I should leave this thread. And while you said that, Dray has continued to bait me into arguing more with some fictional 'arguments' of his which he didn't even back up, not one of them. I at least posted one other source that supports my claim. And again, no warning for him, just for me.
Furthermore, you never mentioned anything about pulling information from dictionaries until later, when you decided to 'pull out the guns'. Your argument throughout the entire debate was more or less 'I am right, you are wrong'.
If you can't debate normally, without insulting which you have done since post #1, then don't. And if you wanna enforce the rules you should set an example by following them. I've seen a lot of this actually. Higher ranked members doing what they want on the servers and on the forums without any repercussions.
@Dray
#1 Your arguments are definitions made by yourself. If my definitions which I somewhat backed up aren't accepted neither are yours.
#2 I never said that everyone who studies martial arts is an artist. I said that people who truly study martial arts, which includes philosophy as well as fighting techniques, are artists. And what they do IS an art form.
#3 I dare you to find any information on the internet that supports your claim that street fighting is a martial art. Any link will do as long as it isn't a site made by you.
And Champ, you wanted to know what style qualifies for a martial art? First of all it has to be a 'style'. Street fighting is not a style. I don't know what image you have about street fighting but when I say street fighting I mean drunk people beating each other up over something idiotic like booze. Maybe even an angry husband beating up his wife's lover. No art in that. When you hit someone and you put all your body and mind into that hit, and you do it with absolute control and precision, with minimal movement and minimal loss of energy. That's Art.
So yea, you can lock this now. Exile me, Ban me, burn me on a stake, shoot me. I don't care. If the only opinion I'm allowed to have on this forum is yours then I don't think I want to be a part of this forum.

No one is going to ban or exile you. I think the argument was stupid to begin with, was not even a debate really, there were a ton of misconceptions and things got out of hand. Lets just put a stop to it here.

And if I offended you in some way sorry for that i hate double standards and if I was a party to it then I definitely owe you one. I know for sure the mumbo jumbo bit was meant as humor but was out of line considering how heated the debate was at that point.

Re: The debate of...
i dont need things to back up my arguments. i use logic. give me a definition of art. can you? can it be considered the right one? no? then i was right. art is subjective and personal. once a universal guideline for it is established, yo let me know. until then, it wil always be AT least partially subjective. AT LEAST. if sth cannot be defined objectively, you cannot impose it as a guideline or official truth ON ANYTHING. THAT IS LOGICAL.
as for your second counter argue, i resend what i said in the previous paragraph. YOU say its art, that the guidelines used in certain martial arts are an art form. but you wont find any specific event of this. its just like that wikipedia quote you used. it is vague and without reference. martial arts are considered both an art and a science. By who? What specifically makes them an art? what universal necessity exists to call something an art? i see you give none. Give me a guideline, a law, a set of rules that say what is and what is not a martial art. Until then, ill stick to the TRUE and ACCEPTED definition of a martial art.
"Martial arts or fighting arts are systems of codified practices and traditions of Combat. Martial arts all have a very similar objective: defend oneself or others from physical threat." since you like wikipedia so much.
And finally, i resend you to my first paragraph again. i resort to logic, deduction and common sense. not references. if you need someone else to speak your words, dont say anything at all. Very rarely i use outside words to debate, mostly sometimes if what is in my head is better put by someone else before me, so i use how they put it.
Street fighting, while you only see hobos and drunks as it, is not what me and Champ see. Street fighting is dirty, gritty, it is either quick or very long, and it hurts. a good street fighter knows how to make someone stop on their tracks by hurting them. There ARE a minimum amount guidelines for street fighting, what you see in underground clubs, gang fightings, street duels, etc etc.

Re: The debate of...
Looks guys if you want to continue this debate I do not mind, but considering what just transpired and the words said, keep it 100% civil. Any flaming or flame baiting even in the slightest will result in an infraction, and I am moving this to the rancor pit with a new title.
