Which is better?
Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
Which do you think is better?
Personally, I enjoy Art of the Saber more as it has more elements than just the saber fighting.

i think they both overdo it, althou Art of Saber has some martial arts to it.

I like Art of the Saber because of the martial arts.

Re: Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
well i like the actual dialog (monologue, voice over) in the art of the saber and the choreography i think was better. The setting was good and the special effects were good as well.
No dialog in RvD hurt it though the special effects were very well done better than the other. The industrial setting was also nice and allowed more special effects.
both are well edited and the musical score is appropriate for both. I just like the Art od the Saber better...

Re: Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
in my opinion they are both absolutely great fight scenes, but i would have to go with ryan vs dorkman. the art of the saber had a great choreography, but ryan vs dorkman had a better fighting style and i believe that it took more time to make and it made a sequal. the fighting in rvd just made it better for me, along with the effects.

Re: Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
They both had there epic moves and such, i liked the actually special effects in RvD2 but i hated the ending, how the guy could throw the saber while it was in him, how they were fighting for no reason, but i liked the setting.
Art of saber, i liked the talking, i liked the moves, nothing was cheesy, there was lijit fighitng. i liked them both, art of saber better.
however the into where the sabers flash in RvD2 was sweet.

Both are nice. Music in 'Art of the saber' is nice but the RvD2 has nice fx. So i would vote 'yes' for both.

Re: Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
Art of the Saber is better if you want proper Form examples, but it doesn't cover some of the Forms like Makashi, Sokan, Niman, or Vaapad. RvD is better if you just want some mindless lightsaber fighting and flashy moves.
For those looking for proper Form usage, here's where you can find the Forms in AotS:
Shii-Cho: One Saber, Orange, 2:11-2:24 & 3:05-3:20
Soresu: One Saber, Orange, 1:55-2:01 & 3:46-3:56
Ataru: One Saber, Orange, 2:02-2:10 & 3:57-4:03
Shien: Two Saber, Red, 1:54-2:22
Djem-So: One Saber, Orange, 2:34-3:00
Jar'kai: Two Saber, Red, 3:50-4:07
Juyo: Two Saber, Red, 2:28-3:50

Better sword play. Makes it more fun to watch and it's smoother. Keeps it interesting instead of just swinging the saber. Btw it's now a poll.

Dude. I am totally jealous I didn't pick that all up. Next video I watch I'll actually pay attention to that stuff and see how accurate I am >__________________________________>

Ptolemy, I think its time you teach your son the implications of over indulgence in fictional statistics

Re: Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
Forms in Star Wars are no different from the various martial arts you find in real life, except the weapon with which the Forms rely on is not real. I don't pick these up because I'm excessively nerdy, although that is a part of it, it's because I've had training with katanas and I understand the theory behind the descriptions of these Forms.

Re: Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
Yeah the writer who came up with the forms basically relied more on agressiveness and fighting personality more than saber usage. Ataru would rely on quick attacks involving any acrobatics, while Djem So would look a lot like Medieval fighting, when the weapons were heavy and they relied on heavy strikes and defense. Althou i think you give these guys too much credit Aard. i dont think they were thinking about that.

Re: Ryan and Dorkman or Art of the Saber
They weren't trying to give style examples, but they made a video of what that kind of combat would actually look like without trying to be real flashy like in RvD. When you make a video where you are fighting like you would really have to, then you'll fall into and out of different Forms. That's why some of those Forms are so brief.

This seems to be more appropriate for the galactic city. Why was this posted in the rancor pit?
