Re: Global Climate Change
^you support doctor assisted suicide too? I do. Just want to figure out if you do too.
also, we don't know that it is completely hopeless, can we slow the process for ourselves and our ancestors and continue to work on a way to either adapt to the cold planet or move out of our planet to a different one?
Thats how I see it.
alos, i've got to go to swim practice right now, so i'm not gonna be able to post for about 2 hours. so, I'll be Back!

Re: Global Climate Change
Yes actually, if the patient wants it. I saw my grandmother suffer for years, I kept hoping it would end easily for her, but in the end she suffered until she died. I don't want doctors to decide it for the patients, but the patients should be able to choose.
The reason I think it would be pointless, is because the entire culture would have to change, not just in America, but everywhere. This could, and probably would, kill many people just in the transition, those unable to change for whatever reasons. The many unforeseen problems that can arise from a change like this could increase the suffering more then just letting it go.

Re: Global Climate Change
Well, at least we agree on that^^
I'm not saying we have to transition immediately, but in a steady transition, but if make that transition, pollution free energy will rev up the economy because it would be naturally replenishing.

Re: Global Climate Change
I don't have a problem if people want to switch to better technology that's more "green," but don't put a gun to their head. The U.S. is a nation of extremes, no security or restrictive security, no war or total war, they'll do the same with green technology. If you scare people into green, then the minute the environment gets better they'll go back to heavy pollution.
I wish it were different, but the American culture is one of all or nothing at all.

Re: Global Climate Change
Its changeable.
Government needs to do its part
If we switch away from pollution, slowly, and outlaw pollutants like we did with, I think it was aerosol??? i'm not sure, but it was something like that depleting the Ozone.

Outlawing pollution has never stopped companies from doing it anyway.

not really. aerosol is pratically unexisten nowadays compared to its old use.
DDT is severely downsized since its abolition too.

Re: Global Climate Change
In Baltimore it's illegal to pollute into the Bay, but if you come in on the sky way, you can see a pipe dumping all this vile material into the water.

Re: Global Climate Change
yes, both public and govt need to do their part. But I don really believe 100% in global warming as a theory, or in any carbon tax or that bullshit. But I agree there needs to be a drive to be more eco friendly and preserve the environment.

Re: Global Climate Change
Different people have different opinions of the theory of dlobal climate change, ALL OF THEM ARE APPROVED by experiments and scientific works. In other words, finding really good theories is an impossible thing. Otherwise, humanity didnt do anything very good for Earth, so even if the theory of global climate change (exactly, the part of it describing a humanity role) is wrong, other sides of our vital functions are dangerous for the Earth (for example, the paper factory near Baikal, the deepest freshwater lake in the world, pollute it.) This is my own opinion.

Re: Global Climate Change
What makes you think that scientists are wrong, you have to be naive to think that, or uninformed and refuse to believe what people smarter than you are telling you with proof. There is a reason that contradictory statements don't show up, because they use false data, skewed graphics, etc. that is why the scientific community does not value things "proving" global warming is a hoax.

Re: Global Climate Change
The government's of the world don't do anything fast enough, even in 20 years we wont be doing enough to make any real difference to saving the earth. I mean we have known about global warming for what.. 30..35 years? And only in the last year or 2 has the government actually acknowledged it. I'm sorry guys the earth is screwed

quite so. It's just a race between whether the environment kills us or America does.

Re: Global Climate Change
As long as oil remains so profitable to these companies, they have no real incentive to change, thus, countries like China, which is zooming ahead in green technology, will be leaders because they aren't constrained by profit as much as our private companies are. Its a shame really, considering we are going to deplete the earth of all its resources as it is.
