Re: Religion
depends. do you live in a ideal society? no. therefore, you do not know yet what the true fundamental morals are for the ideal society. maybe there are no changes to be made, maybe a few, maybe changes to the core. you cnanot simply know. you cna only know what was in the past and what is in the present.

Re: Religion
those are moral points that have been discarded, yet you are straying away from the real issue. the ones that you consider good now, might be discarded in the future. you cnanot know, and i cannot know. to say we have ideal morals is a illusion we tell ourselves, becuz we are not yet the ideal society.

yes well, the big bang serves more as a explanation for this fenomenon, but ya that is a strong point supporting it.

Re: Religion
I'm just going to put my logic for the existence of a god out there.
One of the laws of science states that matter can neither be created nor destroyed, that is a paradox when it comes to the universe then, because something cannot be if it hasn't always been, so how could the universe and all its matter exist without something to create it?
thats how I view it.

Re: Religion
becuz...your not thinking outside the box. the laws of the UNIVERSE, state that matter cant be created or destroyed, but that is a law binded to the UNIVERSE your in. such law may not apply to outside the universe.

Why? What is true here may not be true there.

Re: Religion
assuming there is another universe i.e. Matter cannot be created or destroyed according to science but there's a big question mark on the beginning of time, which is where god comes in.

and you are assuming there is a god. so like i said, multiple theories, each doubtful until we are supreme beings of knowledge.

Re: Religion
this is still an assumption with some sort of base, since no other viable explanation comes to light for the amazing synchronization with which the universe functions. Or the fact that illiterate ppl from a time long past somehow came up with a book making scientifically true statements. However, even if it remains untrue, I find that actually following the morals of the books would lead to as close an ideal society as there could be. If you could even strip away the ritualistic aspect, it would still only benefit mankind.

yes it does, star trek,
and I believe that gravity is gravity, no matter what, because in an alternate universe, it can't be gravy.

Re: Religion
leaving aside nihil's posts, dray what do u propose for us to understand. That another universe does not follow the rules of ours and matter could be created and destroyed there and thus this universe came to be? That's more of a fairy tale then the Greek Tale of Atlas holding up the earth on his back, at least that tried to make sense of the situation.

until you are mind closed like that, it will always seem abstract. and in fact, taht is what it is. the infinity of verses given by scientific theories such as the membrane theory make evth possible. Everything.

but it really does not have much proof. And one of my professors, who is a something physicist by profession, agrees that it is absolute bullshit and mere philosophy.

Re: Religion
becuz he cannot fathom to believe in it. it is too scary. yet it can exist. the same way God can. why the theory of God isnt feared the same way as this one, THAT is what is weird.

no he actually argued against it scientifically. Thats like saying there are vampires and werewolves but we cannot fathom it and are scared of them.

argued it scientifically? you mean, found proof that prooves these theories wrong? then why isnt he divulging it and showign it to the world?

Re: Religion
no, but as in he showed how it is not actually following the procedures of a scientific theory, and that the ppl who made it do not really have a point because they've got nothing to really prove that it exists. Sure they got the math, but there's no experiment or scientific method available to confirm or disprove it and thus it is invalid.
