which laptop is the best?

Im looking for a gaming laptop cheap no more than £300 and I dont mind second hand I know i wont find anything perfect but what are your opinions on these

the first is probably the best (I think) the game i want to play are batman arkham city, battlefield 3, JKA (ofc) and probably some others will either of these play them?

THe bottom line here is, if you wanna run games like Arkham City and BF3, you can forget about the 300 quid budget. You cant get a laptop thatll run those decently for such a low price.

how hard is it to install a better graphics card or get someone else to do it after buying the graphics card

its rather impossible for you. hell, you SHOULDNT do it in laptops, since teh buggers are optimized to use the hardware theyre built with. putting in a new GFX thatll run smoothly wihout problems is stuff for tech savvy people who have nothing better to do than fuck with their computers.

TL DR, you cant do it on a laptop.

You need to consider the motherboard and powersupply too, it's not as simple as just plugging a card in. But yeah a custom build to do what you want which is the CHEAPEST way would run about 700-800, a PC with tech support and already made with the best compatible components will be +1,000.

sigh well i think over 500 quid on a laptop is out the question for me this is why consoles are good u pay about 100 quid and are guaranteed to be able to play any game made for them

not at all. ill just put the numbers where they are.

consoles, after 7 years, cost around 200 - 300 dollars new. The PS3 is around 400 new. thatll get you the stuff to run the games and media, you know music n stuff.

Heres the catch. When you buy a computer for gaming, youre buying a computer for internet, for works, for research, for maths, for music and for video. When you buy a console youre buying sth for games music and video. So keep in mind that PCs are more than consoles. Another thing, PC games are always, ALWAYS, cheaper than console games. youll dole out 60 bucks for a console game, 20 - 30 if its used, while a PC game already is around the 30 -40 price, new. Another thing you dont have on consoles, is average game quality. PC games are prettier and run better, not to mention the indie titles and the ABSURD sales Steam gives. I have over 100 games on steam, and the whole library cost me probably around 300 euros, a lil over it. Thats 5 new games for a console. If you wanna get that many games for a console, tough luck, your costs are gonna go way and beyond the cost of a gaming laptop.

In the end, what consoles dont have in price, comes back in game cost, and low use for them except gaming.

All my friends are on Xbox, even if they were on PS3 I. Couldn't talk to them whilst playing a different game, Xbox has better exclusives Halo & gears of war > kill zone and uncharted

well ok friends is a good excuse. i would question your idea that gears of war is in some way beter than uncharted.

If you insist on a 360 I suggest just saving for a few month and getting a PC instead. Dray's numbers are off, but not by much, what you save on getting a console will still end up costing you. To get a 360 with the space you need you'll need to shell out 300(mostly for a HDD), to buy the games you'll be adding $10 for any game you want and assuming you want a decent starting library that'll add anywhere from $50 to $100 and over the course of a year you'll probably build closer to 20-30 games so take that 100 and turn it into 300, then add in the subscription Live cost and you'll have another $180. So in the course of a year you'll end up paying $780.

I bought my computer as a custom build a year or 2 ago, the only thing I am missing to play everything you have listed is a better OS. I bought this for $680 and this was prior to the Octacore and with the Hexcore just out, right now you could custom build this for about $550-$600 and if you do some searches, keep your eyes open for deals, you could get one like this for around $700, desktop of course but gaming laptops are WAAAAAAAAAAAAY out of your price range and a desktop is as portable as a console.

yeah now that you mention it, wtf if youre gonna buy a console why are you looking for laptops wich are more expensive than regular desktops?

my numbers are not off aard. new games cost 60 dollars, at least the ones he mentioned. if you buy used youll find those in the 20 30 dollar range.

btw, just s you know this, i could of bought arkham city on steam for 15 dollars.

You listed new PC games as $40, they're $50, go to a NON-digital distribution retailer. And no, a new game on a console being sold used is 55, maybe just straight 50 if you're lucky.

But Dray is right, if you like Steam then you really can save a LOT more on games.

Honestly if you're looking for a gaming laptop and you aren't afraid of using up over 1000 dollars alienware is the best. However in your situation the dell would be more worth it

Alien ware is over priced for what you get. you could get a lattitude with the same specs for 500 - 600 less. XPS is decent as well. But since dell owns Alien ware...
