he was using sarcasm btw. your just twisting his words how he does to yours Ptolemy. Hes just pointing out because companies have pretty much cut off competition in Oiling and can pretty much be sloppy, might as well nationalize oil(sarcasm).

also, that wasn't sarcasm, it was serious consideration as to whether we should go as Mexico and Norway did, into socialized oil, because there is no competition, no competition is not capitalism.

These goddamn companies need to be held more responsible. These underwater pipelines need to be modernized, with shut off valves at periodic intervals along the pipeline. These companies easily have the revenue to install this sort of system and it would stop the problem from happening ever again (or at least make it less likely)

Its not a matter of incentive, its a matter of intelligence and protection. This same idea can be applied to any other form of potential natural disasters. Nuclear power planets have a million safe guards.. why? Its clear why. And so should oil rigs, pipelines and oil tankers.
