Disturbed wrote:tell me, has anyone really been attacked? Unfortunately, we ppl don't have the kind of power the US and Israel have, not even close...let me ask, we're giving out threats but our ppl are actually being killed for no reason, forget freedom of speech..its freedom to life that is being violated there.

Like I said, they need to stop being retarded and use their freedom of speech for something constructive. What's the point of trying to piss ppl off? Jesus gets a lot of crap, from Christains, so its not our job to deal with it. If I were a Christain I would certainly not be happy about it, in fact I'm not happy about it right now because Jesus was a prophet according to Islam as well....

People are being killed without reason, however, it is in the interest of national security of not just the U.S but the world at wide, hunting down Al-Qaeda is important. I do not condone the killing of innocents. Has anyone really been attacked? Yes, Lone Wolf militant Muslims and otherwise, not nations.

They are using their freedom of speech for something constructive, they are protesting that people can't have free speech without receiving death threats.

Religious figures get crap, that is reality, nothing is going to change that because that is freedom of speech, though you may not agree with it, other people don't agree with you, so you both can't have your own ways, so we take the middle road.

that's not the middle road at all, that's simply a win for people who have no decency and respect, for anything, anymore. Why the hell has freedom become synonymous with everything immoral and wrong? If someone commits adultery or fornication and if anyone disapprove, their called un modern and say ur restricting freedom. If society has not learn enough to restrict themselves from doing things that are detrimental to society.

In fact, even the free speech clause says that there is freedom of speech as long as it does not hinder anyone else's rights, and that sure as hell is hindering ppl's rights to practice their religion and see their religion respected.

Not only that but there's also a freedom for people to be tolerant and respectful towards others

You are tripping up there, its wrong for you, not for them. Also, Dist, how does it keep someone from practicing their religion if they don't obey one of your religion's rules, thats like saying that Christians can't eat pigs. This is not detrimental to society, again, this is people EXERCISING THEIR RIGHT TO THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH WITHOUT INTIMIDATION! Besides, isn't it true that if I eat pork i'm disrespecting your religion just like if I draw a stick figure that says Mohammed under it to express my right to freedom of speech without intimidation from militant Muslims?

That is a cultural no-no not a religious one, where laws a prescribed for you.

Actually...

That is adulterous, so you would be offending me if I was Muslim and if I was just me, for two reasons

religious and cultural

But by eating pigs, you aren't disrespecting a deity. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but Muslims don't worship pigs, they don't believe them to be a prophet or a holy thing. I also have to ask how they wish to accomplish anything by just straight out pissing people off.

Well then Dray, why don't you tell me why it is disrespectful, it is because culture has trained us that way.

Again, these people aren't mocking anyone's beliefs, they are supporting the Freedom of speech without intimidation, specifically regarding the incident that happened with southpark. What is wrong with that?

IS THERE NO OTHER WAY TO SIGNIFY FREE SPEECH?

For the love of God, if that's all you guys can use your free speech for, rather than stand up to companies, stand up to corrupt government or oppose unfair measure by the government..then you do not deserve that perk in any way

Did I not say specifically?

That was the most recent event and is a thing of culture going on, if someone did it about watergate that wouldn't get as much news now would it?

Also Drist, don't generalize, you live in America too, and many of us do stand up against private corporate interests, cept' Ptolemy Razz, but that is another conversation.

so ur basically saying they want this protest to be seen or something...I live in America and everyday am saddened by how stupid and ignorant the country has become..

The new tattoo on Angelina Jolie's butt seems to be more important than the millions dying world wide.

Oh well I guess such a protest is to be expected from people who are so feeble minded and perhaps have inferior intellect as compared to the common street dog. That's not inclusive, but does involve the majority of people.

At least Ptolemy still has a sense of decency and what is right and what is wrong.

You can't call others stupid when you haven't met them and don't know their story, besides, I'm saying that they are protesting because it works within a media context and works to support the freedom of speech without intimidation. Again, why do you care what others do if it doesn't harm you? Your book doesn't say that no one can draw Mohammed, only that you can't. Why can't people protest the fact that SouthPark comedians, who comment on everything and have no boundaries, except legal ones, show Mohammed, who turns out to be Santa Claus, and get death threats. It was a major media story and it worked well within the context.

its my own action I can refuse to do but if every store everywhere starts selling pork only then will I have an option other than to starve (which I would rather do). This is like making a big public display of a religious figure in an attempt to piss them off. Let's just say that these countries are already having enough trouble getting rid of the extremists, by this move they even piss off the non extremists who only follow the base basest rules of Islam...and if they start getting angry then it's not going to be good for America.

FFS leave the muslims alone and respect their religion. Most normal muslims do the same in return. I have not seen a single muslim here in america who degrades or disrespects any other relgion. I hold respect for people of any faith who are not radicals.
