On the Ruling I:
Re: The End of Democracy in America
I'm not saying that would George Bush did was right, he was a republican after all, we couldn't really expect anything less than what he did, but the Taliban have repressed woman and people with fundamentalist control, which is what has brought down countries in times past, they don't allow much change
They implemented Sharia Law banning things like: satellite dishes, music players, computers, VCRs, television, and even sewing catalogues.
They had Religious police who BEAT people, men for not having beards, women for not wearing the Burka, how could you support that?
not to mention they DESTROYED cultural RELICTS like those giant statues of Buddha.
not to mention their human rights violations.

Re: The End of Democracy in America
the article u posted explained the buddha thing perfectly. Even the leader did not support that. And in regards to beating, I'm not too sure whether its true or just media lies, which are very frequent. Even if so, America's Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo tortures aren't much better, in fact much worse imo. And I have good reason to be skeptical:

Re: The End of Democracy in America
yes well, that just goes to show you that the Taliban isn't just the leader, it is like Mao's Red Guard, it has developed into something more radical than its leader.
and yes, the torture by Americans is worse, in fact, Bush and Cheney should be tried for war crimes in the Hague, in Amsterdam. i think thats where they hold that, for violating human rights, and now you hear this talk about not giving the 9/11 mastermind a real trial?
thats just wrong.

Re: The End of Democracy in America
Perhaps, but when they are starving and dying, men do desperate things, u have to accept that. And tbh, it is in Islam to give 70 lashes to anyone that commits fornication..if they are muslim that is. And western ppl know little of culture there, what they think is enslavement of women is actually them just doing their duties as they perceive them, you have no idea how much respect for women there is in the society in general. Just like any society, there are bastards, but they are condemned. Why do u think the bookseller had to move if the actions portrayed were copmmon>

Re: The End of Democracy in America
well, what i guess it comes down to is this:
Do you believe in the rule of mankind or God?
I believe in the rule of man, not religion, we make our destinies, we shape them, and we are to be family to all other men and women on the earth.
And besides, wouldn't a woman prefer to receive a duty less so than 70 lashes in their accord?
It may be in the bible to kill both the man and the woman who committed adultery, but the modern christians, and jews, don't follow this law, as they believe in the rule of man, well some of them, for the most part, anyways, and see that as murder or vigilante justice. We have to remember that these religious books were made in societies that were beginning to crumble or were loosely organized, in such cases, a strong central figure couldn't implement as much uniform law throughout communities and try villains accordingly.

Re: The End of Democracy in America
lol adultery is not punished properly in most places for Islam either. Or fornication. I believe in doing what seems right to me, and I don't find fornication right. I don't like the idea of 70 lashes, but it should be punished, just not so extremely

Re: The End of Democracy in America
But seriously
To those who support this, I'm going to go corrupt the government by getting rich with a theory of physics I develop, has to do with matter and spacetime i guess, just throwing something out there, and lobby for WWIII,
yay for all those who support this, you just began another war, good job allowing companies to legislate for us
oh look there are some of them now, cutting apart regulations which would have prevented this crisis, but that is the american way, greed. yay...
