This probably the most incredibly silly thing I've seen judges do!

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission

Citizens United has just won all corporations to pump, basically, all the money they want into campaigns and, in affect, drown out the voices of the people.

the first amendment is for the people, not corporations, this ruling allows "independent expenditures by unions and corporations"

no one man has enough money to match the power and influence of corporations

Surprisingly, to the New York Times, conservatives and libertarians favor this confused

they would be the last group of people i would expect.

Americans don't need to get their information from big business, they get it through newpapers, their public library and the news stations.

People on both sides have called this outrageous, I think it is, in the states that allow this, i think it is too. Now those 20 something states that prohibit this have to change their laws, and corporate influences in elections are not good for people, just good for their individual business, which, as we have seen from the last year, can lead to economic meltdowns.

what do you think?

i think u have been foolish to think your parties would disapprove this, since they are only a mascarade for the big boss corporation leaders to mendle the government as much as they want.

We're boned. I expected shit like this to happen with all the corruption that's been growing in government but I'm still sad to see it come about. As for the New York Times, paper hasn't had any worthwhile articles or writers in a LONG time, you can disregard them. They've basically become the rich man's National Enquirer.

I like ur statement, 'we as americans', for some reason everyone thinks that means they have some sort of ideal or good that has caused them to be the superpower they are now? No, its just that America was ideal for bankers and rich companies to exploit and have been doing this for quite some time. Watch 'The International', very nice movie. They never gave a fuck abt the ppl and never will. They just need you to keep their economy up, if they can find a cost effective way of doing that without giving us anything in return, they'll be more than happy to do so.

John Locke

an English Philosopher, he is considered one of the greatest and most influential of all Enlightenment thinkers, probably even out of the Philosophes, in my own opinion, he pioneered the idea of "natural rights" including life, liberty and property.

Ya know corperations have aleways been able to contribute to political campaigns. Any 5013c, while non profit, is a corporation. so, Incedentally is the demacratic and republican parties. companies hire lobbyist as do special interest groups which are, you guessed it, corporations. even organizations like the NRA, NAACP and AARP are all corporations. so you see that exclusion was actually discrinination against companies that actually produce things that people need.

You mean the same phrase that's included in the Constitution, and is a founding principle of this country? The one we've forgotten because we're too lazy to actual use our Constitutional rights?

Yes, our whole constitution really revolved around Enlightenment ideas and the constitution did use John Locke's ideas about the government, Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness along with Montesquieu's ideas of three branches of gov't for balance of power

I think the system is broken and is not beyond repair. i am not sure there is anyone in public service that has the political will and, more important, the cohones to effect the change. there have been so many changes to and violations of the constitution that the document is almost worthless. we do not need a new one we need to revert back to the original intent of the founding fathers as outlined in the fedralist papers. Democracy and free market capitalism have always worked where ever they are tried, as long as there is appropriate support from the people and the government.

Communism and socialism have always failed or decreased the standard of living for those that are so unfortunate to live under them. even comunist China is loosening the hold they have on their economy and allowing more of a freemarket. even as they crack down on disedents. they will find that democracy and free markets go hand and hand and a balance between the two will be hard to find.
