I believe that morals, while not universal, can be with three prerequisites, no religion, modernization, fairer distribution of wealth.

North Amer. Indians were cannibals, they ate each other BECAUSE of religion, in Mourning Wars. When vying for resources that are finite, conflict inevitably comes, thus, modernization, which lowers birth rates, and a fairer distribution of wealth, which always helps the lower class, will bring about more uniform morals.

Why I believe in uniform morals? Evolution. It is best for us to get along than fight, and when we can get along, such as these conditions will bring, we won't kill each other and we will have opinions that will not differ substantially.

And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die. Deuteronomy 21:18-21

A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:27

(my favourite is this one) They found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. ... And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones.... And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses. Numbers 15:32-56 (basically if you try to make a living on a saturday, they stone you)

Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. 1 Kings 21:10

so many....

It has nothing to do with taking it seriously, it's a completely different culture. Back then, this was normal and rationalized punishment. Now a days, that wouldn't fly. I guess I don't see what the problem is.

Well, according to Christians, the Bible is the word of God written. It is his bidding and what is written in there is what he wants. You would expect God to predict that in 2000 years these punishments would no longer be applicable. It is just another pro that the bible is just the word of Men written, not God. Or at least, that parts of the Bible are foney

That proves nothing of the sort. The bible is not man written, it is God breathed (2 Timothy 4:16-17 All Scripture is God-Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.) and none of the bible is phony at all. We don't follow those laws because of the New Testament. With the enactment of the New Testament and the new covenant we have with Jesus, we don't stone people for their sins, we point them to God and say, what you did was wrong but there is redemption. In those days, there was a very different way of salvation, sacrifice of animals. It's different now since Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world.
