If the sith were all mad with power allowing only the toughest to survive at that point in SW history then there would be no empire. They would all fight each other in a civil war over a power struggle... Also they are the real sith species not a bunch of dark jedi posers who couldn't handle darkside. I think that's kind of a big difference between them and the ruthless "sith" who have that only the strongest must rule and if you fail you are weak and must die instantly ideology.
Uh, maybe you should go back and look at the history of the Sith AND the species >_>"...

Re: Star Wars the Old Republic
How do you mean? I'm aware that they interbred with exiled dark Jedi and stuff. I meant that unless they got their act together there's no way they could increase their numbers and form a sith empire across space and not one isolated on korriban. They are different from the sith that follow the rule of two. Those guys just claim the title of sith they aren't the real species and their methods are different. The sith that followed the rule of two could be far more ruthless, because they could afford to. Under the rule of two sith didn't want large numbers the idea was to create two extremely powerful sith. Quality over quantity vs quantity over quality. I don't think one is weaker than the other just different methods of getting things done.

Re: Star Wars the Old Republic
=_= There's a reason sir, this gives a more visual look: http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/timeline (btw, watch from RIGHT to LEFT)
I'll try to explain from what i know. These sith (New Empire, old rep era) ARE sith. They fled from a war they had lost, led by Darth Sadow. Traveled for a long time before settled. Someone stepped up and announced themself as the Empire and began to rebuild, so YES; they did get their act together. They have always gotten their act together and built up an army. Under every Ruler, they always bring something new in. Obviously these Sith are different from the Rule of Two because...the Rule of Two doesnt get created for another 4,000 years (i believe thats how long). These Sith belive in stronger numbers, which gets proven wrong by Revan and Bane.
For the Rule of Two, the point was to keep the power distributed to a bare minimum. Have the power spread out made things weak and disruptive. Caused massive infighting, which would also leave to self destruction (for example, Darth Bane fooling the Brotherhood of Darkness to kill themselves). Revan saw this, which i believe he was planning to do this. Until Malak betrayed him, and then...well you know the rest. Then we have Bane. He found Revan's holocron (and something else that supported this idea, i forgot. Been awhile since i read) that explained this philosophy. One to embody the power, the other to crave it. The whole point was to find an individual, teach the person (ALMOST) everything they knew, then the apprentice was to rise up and take down their master. If the apprentice wasn't strong enough, then he/she would have already been dead in the duel. For instance, look back at Episode 3. Sidious even says, "He taught me everything he knew" (probably not the EXACT quote). He was clearly learned alot, since well...hes still alive lmao. Sadly, the rule OFFICIALLY ended with Jacen's death, by the hands of his sister (shitty duel, btw).
Now, some of you have said the Sith are basically animals. At the beginning, yeah i would agree. They were somewhat savages, since they did enslave the whole Sith species (the creatures). As they go through time, they do become more civilized. To an extent >_-. At first, like i said, they believe in stronger numbers. So things had to be organized, they had to be trained in massive numbers. Aard's example with the wooden blade makes sense. I wouldn't want to kill my own army, especially if im trying to build a force to take on the whole galaxy. Yes, there have been accounts of students killing each other, but on FEW occasions.
Slowly, over time, they dwindled. Simple reason, they kept losing wars lmfao. Their worlds constantly taken over and wiped out. Finally, we reach the Ruusan era (1,000 years before Saga). Like i explained above, Bane discovers the perfect solution. In order to make the Sith more powerful then ever, he had to destroy them. Then rebuild...this time with only two beings. KEEP IN MIND though, during the era of Darth Sadow, there was ANOTHER batch of 'True Sith' that have survived. But there reason is under the most odd circumstances. They thrived for over 5,000 years unnoticed. They had become extremely civilized and basically a perfect society. They did though, as usually, conquer yet another species and breed'ed with them. These Sith have been out of contact with the known galaxy until Luke Skywalker accidently does something...which is another long story. I'll gladly explain that too

Watch this. There's a point where one of the Jedi was fighting with a staff and a single blade at the same time.

Re: Star Wars the Old Republic
Not really all that surprising, Sith are the aggressors and Sith Fleets are built around using their Force Users as active combat tools. Jedi by nature are passive defenders of peace so they try to keep themselves separate from the Republic's military.
Nice Intro though, gives you a real view of the roles of all but two of the classes(Imperial Agent & Bounty Hunter).

I think this is one type of flashpoint that envolves both factions helping each other, so thats probably 8 people on one mission
