Gunslinger is dirty fighting, fast firing, Smuggler. Scoundrel is the cloak and dagger one.

This part of canon is part of the "weak" Sith, those from Revan's time up to 1,000 BBY. Weak Sith were very much like Jedi, they didn't take risks they were schemers, not fighters. If you were talking about Bane or Sith War territory then yes they would be equipped with real lightsabers and left to die weak, but at this point in the SW timeline they were more concerned with numbers then quality members.

I wouldn't say weak. They have a different mentality about things. If the sith were all mad with power allowing only the toughest to survive at that point in SW history then there would be no empire. They would all fight each other in a civil war over a power struggle... Also they are the real sith species not a bunch of dark jedi posers who couldn't handle darkside. I think that's kind of a big difference between them and the ruthless "sith" who have that only the strongest must rule and if you fail you are weak and must die instantly ideology.
