Anyway, meat meals are boring, its like, cook a slab of animal, chuck some roast vegies on it and theres a roast "tada..."

and produce doesnt need to last longer, once it goes bad chuck iti n the compost, dont think you can do that with meat. That would be disgusting, who wants old meat in their backyard.

Plants can keep good for longer because they release a pheromone that keeps them fresh.

being american is good or bad depending on the circumstances. some things they do better than any other (or used to anyways) and somethings they/we will never get right

No produce goes bad much more quickly then meat. I can refrigerate a head of cabbage and it will still go bad in less then a week if I don't use it, but I can freeze a slab of meet for months with no worries.

Every time I tried to freeze cabbage I had freezer burn less then a month later, which means if it CAN be frozen there are special rules you have to follow, something you don't have to worry about with meat.

you CAN freeze cabbage. you can freeze vegetables. they of course, stop being FRESH, but eatable. interesting thing about lettuces...when u leave lettuce outside, for long, you notice how it gets shloppy and like that, specially when u put it in salad, it gets shloppy after a while. if you go to a sink, and wash it with water, it becomes all tender again. or so i was told...

our freezer is full of frozen veggies, funny how that works, point being the process by which the veggies are frozen is different and more complicated than for meat.

and frozen veggies rarely last as long as frozen meat.

course the meat is always gone before all the veggies, in my house anyway Wink

lol, no I'm not American,I'm Australian, land of backyard barbecues, :serious:

you know what's delicious though? frozen peas, yum yum, best frozen vegetable I've ever had. and most of the time we dont put vegies in our freezer to freeze it, it kinda goes in our fridge, not much of the food in our fridge goes bad

Still eats up more resources because vegetables have to be transported more frequently then meat, especially "fresh produce."
