Still the ones wasting food imo

How?

becuz closing one spot of your food sources, means that the nutrients that were coming from that food, wich was a food rich in those nutrients, have to be acquired eating vast amounts of other foods who have lil quantity of the same nutrients you lost when u stopped eating the other type of food.


in short, meat is rich in protein. no more meat. have to eat lot of vegies to compensate proteins that were coming from meat, cause vegies are low on proteins. thus, ur eating a lot of vegies, exceeding the needs in minerals vitamins and such, just so u can get the needed amount of proteins. while as in a balanced diet, eating meat would mean eating less food, not 'wasting' vegetables that other ppl can eat. allowing more food in the world for other people.

So if there's a steak in grocery store and no1 buys it, it goes bad, and is thrown out, WASTED

It was an equality exercise Dray. Equating all life as being equal because they are alive means that you have to treat plants with the same respect you treat other living beings. A hypothetical in other words.

Define pain. Pain is a response we get when our bodies go wrong in a way that could lead to death, a plant's body can go through the same thing so is it not possible that a plant could on some instinctual level know it was about to die?

Pain is a physical experience, caused by the activation of certain sensorial nerves on your body. it is a ANIMAL characteristic, used to caution the living being that something is wrong and should do something about it. it is the expression of a body in peril. if plants feel something like that, it is not called pain.

PS: the "pain of the heart" is a poetic license humans use.

That's why we have plantations, where we grow plants. All the damage going to plants is from Deforestation anyway.

With meat production, its not the killing thats the problem, its the breeding, plants will grow, convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, then they will be harvested for food. Animals will breed, create all the methane, then just die and this happens because of the food we feed them.

So by that right, since we feed them food that does terrible things, we should eat them and prevent those terrible things from happening.

And if everyone went Vegetarian the animal population would grow far more out of control then it is now.

I'm sorry, thats a load. If you stopped breeding animals you would throw off the cycle of nature. They were put on earth for a reason, why take them away when it's a resource you can utilize?

Animals will breed regardless of their environment, it's their nature, and the only thing that keeps those populations in check are carnivores and omnivores.

Exactly. Animals adapt to their ever changing environment, its their nature.

but the problem is while we're breeding them, we feed them food that makes them produce more methane, and in their natural habitat where there would be more trees and whatnot the plants would convert the carbon dioxide better

Plants have little effect on methane, modern methods in slaughter houses that contain and convert methane to power sources are much more efficient.

You do realize we as human produce methane too and its not all because we eat meat. So what does that mean, you gonna kill off the humans to stop producing methane? Besides, most cows are raised on farms where (omg brace yourself) there's trees and plants around to convert that carbon dioxide into food and continue the photosynthesis process.

but a slaughter house is where dead animals go, the only way that would help is if the butcher farts alot.

Doesn't change the fact that if we let all those animals go free right now, and not eat another piece of meat, the amount of methane would not only remain high, but catapult due to the fact that there is no longer anyone killing off the animals producing it.

That doesn't solve the methane problem, the population would still increase, not decrease. At the current rate we have a measure of control over the animal population, and therefore the amount of greenhouse gas that enters our atmosphere. Stop eating animals, and we lose control of one of the largest contributors to our atmospheric degradation.

keep breeding animals and we produce more methane. Whhy dont we become cannibals then, that would get rid of the largest contributors and solve the problem of over population? that fixes all our problems!
