We breed animals at the same rate we kill them off, basic economic theory to not breed more then you use.

And you seem to be misinterpretting my point. You won't ever control green house gases, they'll increase whether you live in an industrial or agrarian society, but at this point, ceasing the consumption of meat won't solve the problem only hasten it's progress.

dude, there are worse things than methane out there. Sulfur dioxide, NO2, and all the chemical wastes spewed out from industries are the ones that need to be checked. And if ur going environmental, farms for plan ts actually result in more damage due to pesticides and fertilizers. And I read a point earlier about animals being contaminated. Well so are plants, almost all of them these days are genetically modified for faster growth and stuff like that.

Animal Breeding makes a heck load of Nitros Oxide and methane, as well as deforestation for the area. Im not sure about genetically modifying plants for growth, thats kinda dependent on the cicrumstances, heck you could blame rain and sunlight for "increasing plant growth" but feeding cows and pigs steroids is horrible, im sure there are lots of stories of animals who have gotten so unused to their body, they cant use it anymore.

Oh heres an idea, why dont we throw chickens into bins and throw them away! im sure that would awork! heres this promotional video showing how to do it http://www.all-creatures.org/articles/video-eggs.WMV

And being off topic now, we're all worried about nuclear power and all contamination, sign a petition to get rid of it!

Yes very credible video. No company names, no places, no explanation. There's no economic reason to do what that video shows so I'm very much inclined to believe it's fake.

As for the steroid bit, steroids do play a part in increased methane, but it's no where near high enough to effect the environment more then just letting the population grow out of control would do.

but use of steroids on so many animals, the ones already producing large amounts of methane, will increase those levels.

And in the video, does the part with all the little chicks dead in the bag convince you? and its probably for "Little Chicken Soup"

No it doesn't, because it looks faked, there's no reason to do that, no financial reason. So no business man would do that.

Honestly I don't care about the steroids, the increase is minimal compared to the normal amount they already produce.

Eh then we move on to other topics. No such thing as a winner in debates, you just try to tell each other things they didn't know to shape their opinions.

lol, do you ever lock topics or anything?

oh yeah in that video, im not sure how much you watched but i just managed watching all of it and it was for caged eggs and thats it nothing else, after throwing those chicks out in the trash and cutting their beaks off is utterly pointless when all they need were the eggs. why dont they just freerange them?

Like I said, I honestly don't believe the video is real. Far more money can be made if you sell them for use as either food, or egg-layers. As for locked topics, nah we don't lock them in the Rancor Pit because sometimes someone will find a new point to raise and want to debate it.

consuming meat is good for you consuming greens is good for you

meat can be more wasteful, however, i just read an interesting article about how cows help keep the greenhouse gasses problem down if you raise them on grass and such,

Refrigeration for flora to keep them in good enough condition to eat, and transportation of them from rural areas because of societal over development can rival any resource use slaughter houses produce.

not exactly, because of they weigh less, and because they provide a greater ratio of sustenance per CO2 released transporting them, they are smaller and weigh less.

And because of the extreme limitations on how long produce will last, even with refrigeration, many more transports have to be run to make sure the food is not wasted.

Woooh, 'nother vegie

Anyway, meat meals are boring, its like, cook a slab of animal, chuck some roast vegies on it and theres a roast "tada..."

and produce doesnt need to last longer, once it goes bad chuck iti n the compost, dont think you can do that with meat. That would be disgusting, who wants old meat in their backyard.

Plants can keep good for longer because they release a pheromone that keeps them fresh.

The possibility exists but for me there is nothing like a realy good burger or a nice ribeye steak with baked potato and green beans maybe a nice spinach salad. The meat or protein is always the center, main focus, of the meal. more satisfying. You could argue that is a result of YEARS of conditioning and you may have a point but all i can say is... IT"S TO LATE FOR ME SAVE YOUR SELVES!!!! *Ptolemy grabs a knife and fork and viciously attacks an attacking ribeye steak with gusto*

that may be true for american food, but wait till u go a little outside, there's so much variety u won't be eating the same thing twice in a week, ever. And no not all of them are roasted with vegetables. Actually, I rarely eat roasted food.
