Just get 7...

If not, just put the disc in and reboot. I think that should do it.

Dosen't 7 still need more ram that xp?

I'm doing this for a few reason, but one of them is because my laptop isn't really good, and I figured xp would help thing run more smoothly.

XP needs less than Vista and 7, but you will have caps on how much RAM you can utilize and you'll be limited to a lower res.

Well I really have no problem with that, I just want my stuff to run better and etc.

Also, so I just basically, put the disk in, start it up, then do what?

Well save the files you want to keep, then format with either DOS or burn a UBCD.

Neutral ........... Mind telling me how to do that exactly? and also, this xp disk that I have, is missing internet drivers or something. Is there specific ones that I need for this pc, and if so, how do I find out?

Your drivers come with your motherboard, if you don't have the disk, then you'll have to find out what your motherboard is and download the drivers to a thumb drive. As for formating, with DOS you just hit F8(I think I haven't used a DOS format in 8 years) and there'll be an option to format the hard drive. If you want to use the UBCD then just look it up on google it should give you a step-by-step process.
