I think auditing and vetting of officials by the public should be mandatory, as well as severe penalties for corruption including permanent incarceration and death.

Corrupt officials should not be pitied. They have literally wasted the entire human races time. They deserve death for some offenses. We only live so many years, some politicians cause so much damage it backtracks society or holds it in stasis. That type of action should be highly accountable for.
