From my knowledge, no one AV can catch all worms, bugs and viruses.
So, 2 times in every months i spend 2-3hrs on cleaning my system. And every time programs find something. Not offten it was critical files but...
Ofcorce most importand is use some good fire wall. I use PC-tools Firewall Plus.

SpyBot-Search and Destroy
PC Tools AV
and to make my computer a bit faster
Eusing Free Registry Cleaner
C-Cleaner (here You can of some programs off if You no need to start it with system)

1. I never said Nod32 was the best, I said I prefer it. I specifically said there are mixed reviews about different AV's.

2. I said 95% of viruses are from porn/email/pirate, I specifically said you should have an AV just in case you run into the other 5%. Most of my friends know how to use a computer, they know a ton about computer security. I still scan anything they give me.[/qoute]

Are Your friends have own friend who You didnt know? Are they friends can have other friend who thay didnt know? Maybe they working in job on some computers where companys trying save mone and not buying AV's? Are those all ppl know who secure computers before attacks from internet or infections? =)

3. I use several of the programs you mentioned, but I still haven't found any critical vulnerabilities yet. Last thing I found was a trojan in a program I had downloaded, but ESET caught it when I scanned it.

I writed...some AV find this virus and others find different...its normaly. That why everyoneswho know something about viruses recomended to checking system sometimes by more like one program. =)

I didnt even recommended him a firewall, which is just as important as an AV.

I've been trying out various firewalls and seeing which ones I prefer, I'm currently trying out Zone Alarm. I also use a proxy server + firewall when I torrent. If you don't use full protection when you download public torrents you'll get tracked by all sorts of companies. Of course it doesn't really matter here in Canada since you can get away with it
