Dray, would you call Socrates suicide cowardly? Or seppuku of Japanese Generals and such? It has some value of bravery and some of cowardice.
Actually i would call Socrates' suicide(execution) unnecessary. He valued his word so much, he died for it. If i was to speak to Socrates, i would refer him to Galileo. He did not agree to his work because the church would execute him, so what did he do? Publish it after he lived a nice long life. And today, both Galileo and Socrates are regarded as top humans, who developed humanity very far. But the difference is, one died prematuraly, the other lived longer. Sure i guess Socrates wanted to stand up for freedom and such, but that really gets you nowhere in Ancient Greece....
Also, i wasnt referring to adrenaline as a blocker for suicide, because i believe adrenaline cannot distinguish if your harming yourself or tryingto live.
Example: If you wanna carve a blade into your chest, you dont do it calmly. You get hyped up, you pump every bit of ecstasy into your body, so that it drives your mind nuts, allowing you to perform something irrational(suicide is irrational). There are slow suicides i guess, like taking pills, but even when someone takes those pills, they still need that pinch of hype to, as people say, stop thinking and just do it. Because thinking will discourage you from the act.

Re: Suicide.
Suicide is, inheriently, amoral. To say that it is right would be stating that people should do it. To say that it is wrong would be stating that people should not do it.
People should be permitted to engage in suicide, after a period of time in therapy in which professionals attempt to give the person a reason to live or point out that the known reasons to live outweigh the reasons to do. An exception to this would be criminals, who would legally be required to carry out their sentence before commiting suicide, though the required therapy can be done during the end of the sentence, military personnel, who would be required to serve out their service, and terminally ill patients, who would be permitted to request a perscription for suicide from their doctors or, if their doctors do not believe in suicide as being a choice, from a state assigned doctor (IE, in the military) to bypass the therapy period (which I would personally put at four weeks, though that's just a quickly thought of number). Such a bypass would only apply if the individual in question would have no choice but to die of the disease, from complications arising from the disease, or from a variety of non-natural deaths (murder, suicide, animal attacks, ect).

Re: Suicide.
I'm not saying it is right, I'm saying that people should have the right to do it, after all, we are all terminal.
