Re: TaeKwonDo
What arguments Dray? Your subjective opinions on Mona Lisa and arts in general? Post a list of the arguments you want countered
I don't mind having a debate as long as it remains civil. I backed out cause it seemed to me that you two got offended. Don't want to offend anyone but I suppose I can voice my opinion on a forum.

I got offended because you started mocking me, now you are insulting my intelligence by making yourself seem the innocent. Seriously, you said you were leaving the thread, maybe that would be the best thing.

Re: TaeKwonDo
I'm sorry but you called my opinions, beliefs etc. 'mumbo jumbo'. I didn't exactly take that as a compliment. But I kept quiet. You called me narrow minded. I kept quiet. And then you made that 'interpret it how you want to' comment and that's what made me snap.
So, yea.. I may not be completely innocent but neither are you.

Yeah but I have the guns. And I drew the line when I saw it getting out of hand.

Re: TaeKwonDo
i meant the arguments wich if you read well, told you why you should not call Martial Arts, art just for the sake of it. to simplify what should be simple already,
1.The definition of Art is subjective and personal. More so then anything else in our society.
2. The naming of Martial Arts was more of a stylization then a direct meaning name, EG instead of calling it Martial Techniques or Martial Crafts, better sounding name would be Martial Arts.
3. Any fighter, wether he is practicing ninjutsu, russian sambo, or street fighting, is capable of turning a fighting sequence into an artistic approach. Practicing martial arts does not create art by itself.
Hence why street fighting can be a martial art, because the definition of a martial art is a code of fighting, not code of life or mentality, instructed to defend oneself. Some martial arts teach you mentalities and philosophies, not necessarily to improve your fighting, but more to focus it and possibly input some guidelines of when to use it, as well as to maintain greater concentration during a fight. Philosophies and ways of life are inputs, not created BY martial arts, but ADDED to them, as a bonus.
