Re: Racism

even though they don't see that they are being completely paranoid.

Re: Racism
Dist got my meaning most, although when it comes to Blacks Nihil has part of what I meant as well. But I think Dist knows what I mean, those stares you get when walking into a neighborhood dominated by another race, and he's probably taken up a similar policy of giving leniency to no one, but not discriminating either, though I could be wrong.

Re: Racism
I don't discriminate as far as socializing goes, but when I get stares I stare back, and the good thing abt paranoia is the ppl are scared, so they walk away...quickly.

Re: Racism
you would get stared at of course because they are wondering why you are there!
LOL
anyone would do that, if you see someone who does not usually come into your neighborhood, then of course you would stare, if a white walked into an all asian place, if an asian walked into an all black place, its simple.

Re: Racism
There's a difference between curious stare, and hateful stare.

Re: Racism
Paranoia,
you don't why they hate you, you are accusing people of hating you for walking down the street,
I see a bunch of black people who don't stare like that, you can't generalize a group of people for racism because you believe them to hate you irrationally when no one of us has experienced that, save Illmare, because Americans are for the most part some of the most introverted peoples in the world, who distrust just about any culture/race that they believe has wronged them.

Re: Racism
If you'd taken a decade of martial arts Nihil you would be able to see the difference as I can. I know the difference, I don't mind curious stares, in fact I engage in conversation with those curious, but there's also those stares that tell you they would just as soon see you dead.

Re: Racism
thats right, because martial arts will tell you who hates you and who doesn't?
Why do you have such a keen animosity towards other races?
Why would anyone want you dead?
They don't believe they are better than you, they don't believe that by some divine force of nature that they have superiority to you, so why would they want you dead??

Re: Racism
I could understand that coming from you Illmare, thats because of what I explained above, Americans being americans, but what I don't understand is how a white man can feel threatened by a black man, or vice-versa, if they have never met, and if neither believe to be superior to the other.

Re: Racism
the problem is, THEY do...for some reason ppl have prejudiced views abt a certain race and will react as such when they see a person of that certain race. And to make it crystal clear, anyone can be racist, my mother being a big case in point. She classifies everything based on race, if a movie is dirty and has lots of music, it was made by blacks, if its something morally wrong, its is done by whites and so on... Racism is not just abt pure hate, but also abt overgeneralizing and stereotyping

Re: Racism
Yes Nihil it does. Martial Arts teaches you how to read someone, how to size them up in an instant, and teaches you how to read someone's eyes to determine if they will attack.

Re: Racism
Sorry Aard I think you are full of yourself at times and you are clearly paranoid when it comes to black people.
And if you go into certain neighborhoods I dont care what color your skin is you will be looked at with suspicion.

Re: Racism
I told you why I am paranoid about it:
As for being full of myself, I'm not sure what you mean, if you're talking about reading people's body language and intent by their eyes, any third year martial artist has been taught to do this, and to get past year eight you have to be able to put it into practice on demand.
P.S. I finally managed to start a debate that lasted 10 pages. W00T!!!
Aardvark wrote:If any of you are curious about my one statement: "Once, bitten. Twice, shy. Thrice, paranoid." There actually is a story about that.
Once. I've had a few best friends in my life, but the first one I can remember, indeed the first friend I ever remember having, was Johnny(Yes I know, sounds made up, but I swear to god that's his actual name). We lived in the same neighborhood and were good friends for many years. That is until I started playing baseball, and saw all these other players spitting on the ground while in the field. As a naive kid I thought "COOL!" and I challenged Johnny to a spitting contest(Some of you probably see where this is going). Well we were going at it, having fun as two 8 year olds do, then his 25 year old brother comes home, sees me spitting in the grass, and promptly beats the living shit out of me for being "racist". I can't make this shit up, his family completely shunned me, wouldn't let me talk to him, we both were confused, we explained we were having fun, but it didn't matter, to them I was a racist and beyond redemption. To this day they won't even acknowledge me on the street.
Twice. After that I start being more careful, actually avoiding black people I didn't know because I was confused still and didn't want to get beat up again. This worked for four years, I realized all the fucked up shit in history, understood the reason Johnny's brother wailed on me, but still didn't why he wouldn't accept my apology. So I made it into Middle School, there was a Black kid in my class, so I just steered clear of him as usual. Noticed over the year that he was getting angry at me, I didn't know why, I hadn't done anything, so I kept even farther from him. Then a few weeks later, I get called into the principle's office and assigned detention for a week for "Discriminating against African Americans".
Thrice. As you see me now. After that, I got tired of being the victim, I confronted people who challenged me, I took my martial arts more serious and got my black belt, and I stopped making allowances for anybody.

Re: Racism
xD nice...yes those are rather unfortunate incidents, tho I think ppl should know better than to shun a 8 yr old for racism. Obv a kid.
