Racism - Page 3 Empty Re: Racism

By that argument, I can say all white people should be viewed with the reputation of having caused the holocaust and every crime of humanity any white country has ever done.

It's still a matter of reputation. Bring in a black man with a good attitude and a white man with a decent attitude, and I'm more then willing to bet the Black man will get the job. When on equal terms though, reputation associated with color courtesy of media image and gang bangers, plays a factor. The reason it still plays a factor is because it hasn't stopped, there are still too many gangs and gang violence related to the group.

Champion wrote:Sorry I never had that experience. Maybe its the way you are looking at them that provokes that look back? I've lived in Trenton for years at one point in my life, a predominantly black community and not once did I notice an odd stare or was anyone rude to me.

No, I walk in, I look around to get my bearings, and the first person I see is staring daggers at me. Most of the time, I specifically try to keep to myself, but I still see people staring at me like I'm a bloody murderer. Not all do that, but a good deal do, it's only the ones that are fully employed that I get along with, the treat me like a person rather then trash.

The issue here is racism and the general treatment of a race as a whole. If you want to whittle it down to individuals we would have to discuss each individual human in detail. And your very statement here does nothing but prove my point. We are talking in real world terms here, not some ideal. So if you want to bring up the media and other things which may or may not affect the view of the race as a whole you are merely proving my point even further.

Sorry you have had that experience. I still believe its the way you are looking at people. Either way, it has no bearing on the issue, racism. We could get into sub-cultures and other anthropological things which explain why you feel "different" if you go to another cultural location, but I actually revel in the difference rather than shun it. That's another discussion though.

I think in the end most people would wish racism would just go away so we can make our stupid little jokes and no one would get mad, and we can all live in peace. But by ignoring the truth and not accepting reality you are merely contributing to the problem.

So why can't we? Why do we have to keep being paranoid and seeing slights where none exist. This is my problem, seeing insult when none is meant. As for the way I look at them, if I look at them wrong, then why perpetuate it by staring at me like I'm evil instead of just nodding, or smiling, and lightening the mood. They see me as a racist I believe when I've done nothing but walk by and look around. Racism exists in some cases, but the Black culture is also making a lot where none exists.

This reminds me of how you hate the "Gay culture" aard.

Why can't you see that the people who are not white have been treated so horribly that they have developed without much a leg in this world, and that this is passed onto their families, and onto their families' families, and so on.

Such that they had no education, or little, that they can't secure a job in the world that would be a high paying one as a white man because he has had the benefit of having experience, and NOT being mistreated.

You know what, Asians usually don't need the welfare stuff because they resisted outside influence throughout almost all of history, and were never enslaved, KEY POINT THERE, while others were dominated, oppressed, ETC.

Blacks can't be racist, unless they believe they are superior because of their skin colour to whites and others. Which they don't, I can't think of a Black man or woman that I know that doesn't treat everyone as equal.

So why not give people welfare, how stalinistic? because they don't provide enough to the system, we are going to let you die!

how can you justify that on a moral basis?

Here is the dictionary entry i found:

racism |ˈrāˌsizəm|
noun
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

are we agreeing, or are we differing, cause I kinda thought that what you said was what i had said, but in a different way. confused

Racism - Page 3 Empty Re: Racism

Post by Aardvark Fri Feb 19, 2010 10:01 pm

I've stated repeatedly. I don't hate the gay culture, I hate how they choose to represent in the media.

They are free to go to school, just like everyone else, I can't make them, it's their choice if they drop out. Scholarships are open to everyone and many don't require you to ever meet the people you're asking for the help, so they have as much option for college as everyone else. Not seeing how I need to help them, I'm not giving them money for nothing, but I'm not hindering them either. Isn't that enough?

Racism is very easy to define: Feeling you deserve better treatment then others around you because of your nationality or skin color. In this way, I have seen many black racist who want the government to provide for them because they're black. Not because they're poor, or out of a job, because they're black.

And I don't have a problem with welfare, I have a problem with living entirely off welfare. There are GENERATIONS of people in just Baltimore that have lived off welfare all their lives. Now some need it for a time, that's fine, but a limit needs to be in place, don't make it so they can remain on it all their lives, make it 5 years, then they're off. After all, why work if the government will pay your rent for you. This applies to anyone on welfare, not just blacks.

Aard you are a bitter person when it comes to certain things. I pity you in some ways. I don't know, I guess I was just the kid who asked his mom why people pollute the earth and do other wicked things, because I do not like to hurt others in any form and when I see it being done it incites a rage in me like no other.

You don't have to press your opinion any further I know how you feel. Your very definition of racism in your last post above this one more than revealed it.

rofl quit messing, anyways..nihil, stop trying to use this to shove gay rights down aard's throat, different topic, different situation, different implications. Aard, I agree with you to where u say ppl shouldn't be walking around waiting to be offended, but some things are just degrading and intolerable. However, the fact they stare at u is rather weird.

Maybe he is paranoid because we notice that this never happens to us?

and, LOL, try living on welfare that gives 200 and below dollars for food a month

Also, i already told you aard, it is a culture that has generated from being poor.

why do you think that drug dealers are for the most part poor? Why do you think that more poor people are in prison than rich?

it makes sense doesn't it.

Then strive to be better, not to wallow in self-pity.

As for why. Not all stare at me like that, just the ones that seem to do nothing but hang around buildings trying to look tough. If they're a friendly person we get along fine, but idk some just seem to hate me on contact.

ook i don't understand what you meant there aard

but again, 200 dollars and under for food a month, doesn't sound like people could live off that. and of course there are abuses in the system, but are we really going to change all that so that we punish that small group of people while all of the people that need it don't get it?

again, being poor in a minority is a result from oppression and lack of skills because of it.

Your telling me NONE of you have EVER been stared at for being white in a black neighborhood? I find that extremely hard to believe.

And you may well be right Champ, I have Martial Arts experience in 3 styles with over a decade of practice stretching back to the time I was four. It's entirely possible I carry myself with some sort of a swagger due to the training, but it's not conscious.

If any of you are curious about my one statement: "Once, bitten. Twice, shy. Thrice, paranoid." There actually is a story about that.

Once. I've had a few best friends in my life, but the first one I can remember, indeed the first friend I ever remember having, was Johnny(Yes I know, sounds made up, but I swear to god that's his actual name). We lived in the same neighborhood and were good friends for many years. That is until I started playing baseball, and saw all these other players spitting on the ground while in the field. As a naive kid I thought "COOL!" and I challenged Johnny to a spitting contest(Some of you probably see where this is going). Well we were going at it, having fun as two 8 year olds do, then his 25 year old brother comes home, sees me spitting in the grass, and promptly beats the living shit out of me for being "racist". I can't make this shit up, his family completely shunned me, wouldn't let me talk to him, we both were confused, we explained we were having fun, but it didn't matter, to them I was a racist and beyond redemption. To this day they won't even acknowledge me on the street.

Twice. After that I start being more careful, actually avoiding black people I didn't know because I was confused still and didn't want to get beat up again. This worked for four years, I realized all the fucked up shit in history, understood the reason Johnny's brother wailed on me, but still didn't why he wouldn't accept my apology. So I made it into Middle School, there was a Black kid in my class, so I just steered clear of him as usual. Noticed over the year that he was getting angry at me, I didn't know why, I hadn't done anything, so I kept even farther from him. Then a few weeks later, I get called into the principle's office and assigned detention for a week for "Discriminating against African Americans".

Thrice. As you see me now. After that, I got tired of being the victim, I confronted people who challenged me, I took my martial arts more serious and got my black belt, and I stopped making allowances for anybody.
