Timothy Zahn returns to the Star Wars galaxy next year with all new hardcover novel release, Choices of One. It's a classic Star Wars adventure set in the time between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, featuring Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and Mara Jade.

Choices of One is due out in July 2011. Here's a first look at the cover art by John Van Fleet, which is not yet final, but close enough to share!

Looks like I'll have to pick this up.

At least they're keeping her alive somehow.

Was truly disappointed when I found out that Mara died.

Yeah, but, no she didn't.

It wasn't even a duel. Jacen, the little bitch he is, just poisoned her.

Yeah, I don't really like Mara's face on this cover.

EDIT: Aard, on that Wookiepedia page you just posted, go the "Appearances" section and there's your answer.

Ah good, I was wondering when he'd do something with that. A Rogue squad of elite stormtroopers sounds fun.

They still serve the Empire though, no?

Not serve, per se, but they have most of the same interests, right?

They represent the Empire in it's idealistic form. An Empire is ideally a very orderly and lawful place where crime is low, decisions are fast, and internal politics do not exist.

An Empire has a good and a bad side. I listed the good, but the bad is summed up best in one word: Corruption. Because there is only one ruler who appoints lieutenants that are only accountable to that ruler. So if you corrupt the ruler, everything devolves into chaos, as you see in Star Wars. It's also possible for the lieutenants to grow corrupt without notice because one person cannot manage so many constantly and they are accountable to no one else.

The Hand of Judgment is a vigilante group, they seek to get rid of the corrupt lieutenants(in SW Moffs) so that the sector can go back to lawful and orderly society.

Communism is not that. Maybe people preach that they practice communism, but anyone with a little sense knows there is no room for communism on a dirty world like ours, and any attempts at doing it fail hard, and they HAVE failed hard. Communism is a theory, it is non existent right now. If someone wants to say 'we have a communist policy in our country', let them, i can say im a dog, it doesnt make it true.

Btw, this Empire ideal is MUCH more resemblant to a fascist policy than it does a 'communist' policy.
