Star Wars the Old Republic

Post by Cllyx on Tue Jun 15, 2010 6:10 pm

I don't know for you but true fan of star wars must beat both KOTOR games, for that time amazing graphic and story, open world, choices that you can make in game, creating your character and with him/her you write story and make galaxy to be in light or darkness. It's very interesting and fun game to play, and to talk with NPCs, and each of them has its story to tell, which depends of that how much they respect you, and you gain respect if you help them with their problems and if your choices are same as they would chose on your place. And you get feeling that you and your character are one same person and you see your importance in game. For those who don't know, it's Star Wars Knights of the old Republic. ScreenFun rated it with A.

But such great game lacks one thing, it's not multiplayer game, it's just singleplayer game. But that will change soon. Bioware works on Star Wars the Old Republic MMORPG long time and they have amazing progress. So it's massive multiplayer online, and you can call it killer of other MMOs.

You can see two really good trailers of it, I enjoy 100% each time I see them:

You can explore the game on its official site http://www.swtor.com/
Unlike KOTOR this game will offer more classes, and unlike other MMOs everything will have it's voice, all NPC can speak, and you can have one companion with you that can betray you if your choices are different then companion's or if you can influence him/her , then companion can change it's believes and follow every your step. I don't know for sure but I think that companion can be NPC or a player, "the choice is yours!". Once you do something that's it, there is no turning back, reloading save like before, but you can always switch side and you can always start new character and go other way. Races are still question for me, I dont read that much, but seeing all those avatars it looks like there will not be only humans for playing. Of course game will not be free, eventually free private servers will show, but I tell ya that this game will be worth to pay for. There is a lot information, stories, timeline, a lot of shit to read and enjoy, just go on its site and enjoy in other videos and screens. And I just wounder who would like to be my companion from here?

J is for John Carmack’s first-person novelties. K for Konami’s dark vampire tales. L for the Lemmings who march without fail. M is for Mario. Run, goombas, run! N for Nintendo, the first name is fun. O is for Oddworld, with games strage and clever. P is for Pac-Man, who caused quite a fever. Q is for Q-Bert’s curse-filled speech bubble. R is for Ridley, who gave Samus trouble. S is for Sonic, his fleet feet reknowned. T is for Tetris blocks falling in mounds. U is for Ulala’s fast, funky feet. V is for Video cards, fast obsolete. W for Wizardry; through dungeons we’d scurry. X for the Xbox, as big as Missouri. Y is for Yoshi, a plumber’s best friend. Z is for Zelda, and here this rhyme ends.

I agree with Ptolemy here, not a fan of monthly charge stuff. But I guess you could do what Bg and Dray say.

yeah it's rather unfair, but I guess they would need it initially to make up the costs of providing high quality servers. But if they get good results and manage to get enormous profits in the first year or so, should make it f2p (Not to get) and they will see even more profits by brining a whole new audience in. Ofc there are the pirates, but if the game is good, most ppl will buy it.

its ridiculous to pay 30 dollars a month to PLAY in a server, when 30 dollars a month can actually pay your OWN server. i agree with monthly pay for server maintenance, i just think you pay too much for it.
