Funny... We've spent more money on Katrina than we have on this entire nation... And they still are dying and we're all like

Ah I was being sarcastic to you, not the scenario. I feel bad for their situation, but you're berating people for trying to help when you should be attacking their corrupt government that hoards all the relief aid instead of giving it to the people that need it.

I think Haiti was handled well. I mean i dont know about what you guys there in America did with your money and shit, but i saw worldwide aid there, and the money got there. It is disastrous, but it was handled the best it could of been.

I don't believe that, I believe that the world wide effort was stymied by the frugality of governments right now and the minute-to-minute news cycle which pushed Haiti away already. Oh, and yes their government is corrupt! Very so, but does that truly engender us otherwise?

It doesn't matter how much money we spend, we need to coordinate a worldwide relief effort on a far greater scale, send our troops doing nothing in germany and other places where they sit on their butts and send them to Haiti to help out.

Well when you try to help and find out all your efforts going into some cigar chomping bureaucrat's coffers, it tends to dampen your willingness to send more because you know what will happen to it. What else can you do but forget? You think they'd allow troops in without crying foul like every other country out there has when relief aid was presented? The U.N. doesn't do shit, they play along with majority and flip flop around more then dice in a blender. So everyone draws the only conclusion they can, ain't shit to be done until that government is overthrown.

help and support needs money, althou i see what youre coming from. I stil lthink, given the current political and monetary ideals of the world, that Haiti was optimistic....

How many people can just go "Hey boss I'm taking a week off to go to Haiti ok?" and expect to come back to a job? This is a capitalist nation, CEOs don't give a shit about national disasters, they want money and they aren't going to pay you for being humanitarian.

hence why humanitarianism isnt dependent on the USA for a long time now, unless its governmental PAID support, or military droppings. Wich is where MOST of humanitarian aid comes from Aard....

Yep, then the country complains that we're either A. Occupying them. or B. Forcing our views on them. I would love it if this country would at least provide for people who wanted to help others after natural disasters and such, because some people genuinely want to help, but are too scared of losing their livelihood.

I've donated money to the Bush Clinton Haiti Fund, I haven't kept count, but I would guess around 50$? Which, for me, since I don't have a source of income, is a lot of money tyvm.
