It is not over yet
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20100905/D9I204T00.html
War in Iraq is not over as yet.
Obama just pulled a Bush and said we were done when we are not...
All we have done is draw down forces and make the place less safe than ir was before...

No, people just don't read the fine print. Obama said ''Official combat operations'' ended, yet he still explained that if the Iraq army requests assistance than those 50,000 noncombatant troops will provide assistance for those operations. Also Special Warfare Operators will still be conducting missions in Iraq

Re: It is not over yet
Well with the interrogation techniques I had heard of how it was used on Mid-level to High-level prisoners, never really bothered to check the low-level ones :d

Depending on the seriousness, it's more of what their status is in a terrorist organization or cell but yeah Masterminds, Commanders, those types are who I thought made most of the population there

Re: It is not over yet
There were a lot of lower level functionarys there as well. Kind of a holding are till we could find out who they were and what they did. Human rights? tell that to Daniel Pearl, Tell that to the 3000+ people that most of you have forgotten about. Tell that to the contractors that were burned alive and had their remains hung from a bridge. The many that were beheaded.
Human rights abuses? what about the way they treat women and criminals in that culture? The barbaric system of 'justice' they follow. They may not have been able to move around as much at Gitmo but they lived a better life. On average they Gitmo detainee GAINED 20 pounds from the time they were brought in to the time they left. they had complete religious freedom.
OOO thier are being given to much food they are abused!!!!!

errr.....I always thought American culture degrades women much more than any other...real terrorists should be detained...unfortunately most who are there are nothing but phonies. I bet the real terrorists are chilling in washington somewhere.

Re: It is not over yet
Well that is true and not true, the difference is we give women a CHOICE to degrade themselves which most choose to. You guys or them (not sure of your affilation) just don't give the women a choice to be whores There are also a lot of other things women can do here in the States in all seriousness, I don't think women over in the Middle East can reach high economic status without depending on marrying into it. Where over here they can do that by themselves if they choose to. Other stuff like that , blah blah blah

Re: It is not over yet
I would not say most but there are plenty that do.
my point was the way women are treated as second class. Women cannot be seen in public with out a male relative, there are arranged marriages and if the woman refuses she brings 'dishonor' upon her family and may become the victim of an honor killing. If the woman does anything contrary to the families wishes they could be a victim of an honor killing. It just seems that women are second class citizens in the middle east. Women being convicted of adultery and being executed in horrific ways... after they were raped...
should i go on?

I would if i could. In fact i will. I think muslim religion, but even more, muslim sharia is fucking moronic, as much as christian traditions one. They consider women not on the same level of a man, wich EVEN BEFORE CONSIDERING ANYTHING ELSE, is stupid. Sure women are different beings, and they have certain things one hsa to take in account for, BUT a human is a human, and all humans should have the same equality of choice and freedom. Hell i think the western society has been treating women TOO well, if i must talk about the opposite side. I do not like Talibans but i respect them. They never were too violent towards others. That was the worlds fault trying constantly to attack them. Nonetheless, i think that muslim radicals are abhorrent and i have nothing to say someone else hasnt.
So there you go, i told them. But before one can become better than others, one shouldnt stoop down to their level, SHOULDNT HE?

I am not sure who wer have executed in this war... not killed, people die in war and they are not always the ones we shoot at...
Who have we beheaded? who have we stoned to death? Who have we burned alive? How many of our kids have we strapped bombs to and told to blow them selves up at a police station?
the prisoners at Gitmo were treated by far better than they are treating our guys. Point to water boarding if you wish but such a thing was only used on high profile targets and then only a handful of times. They say it was effective and i imagine it was but i can guarantee you, waterboarding was no where near as painful and terrifying as having you head sawed of with a knife...
It would take QUITE a bit for us (the US) to sink that low...
