Gun control has proved hazardous. There is data proving that gun control has increased the crime rate. I believe it's unnecessary to have gun control...

Controlling them is a good idea. Not controlling them would lead to far more violence. Restricting the use of a dangerous object is the most effective way of managing it at all. No laws means it runs rampant, making it entirely illegal opens the way for gang rule. Restricting it provides a legal means to obtain the object that MOST of the population will follow rather then risking their freedom by doing it the illegal way.

He has a point.Either way, guns are in general a bad idea and always have been. Gun control should happen, else Columbine and other of those events wuldnt have happened that easily. True that parents were another factor to it, but the way they got a hold on those guns....Seriously dudes, i dunno how, but the fact your kids can buy a gun at wallmart makes me ask what kind of sick idea is in the American mind.

Now I realize how fucked up america is...I mean, I live in a big city, and I've NEVER, I say NEVER saw anyone(except the police which uses guns with rubber bullets) use a gun.

In "gang fights" or w/e, you just use common items..baseball bats, pipes,those knuckles u put on ur hands or just bare hands...

Therefor my conclusion is, in America, almost anyone can get a gun, whilst in most of Europe, or at least, from what I know, it is awesomely hard, or quite impossible for a minor, or even a grown man, get a gun without a license and a pre-order.

columbine... the weapons that were used at columbine were illegal. they had to jump through hoops just to know where they were. they shattered existing gun laws obtaining them. that's why the guy they got the weapons from went to jail. A kid cannot buy a gun you have to be 21. i can gift a weapon to my son but he cannot own it till he is at least 18 in most states.

the rise of dictators and forms of government that favor the ruler always start with the confiscation and tight control of firearms. The founders knew this and that is why they placed the right to keep and bear arms in the Constitution. right along with the states right to maintain a militia. If you look at demographics, you will see conundrums like Washington DC and Virginia. Across the river from each other but in DC, where guns are all but outlawed, the violent crime rate is exponentially higher (maybe not exponentially but 3 - 4 times as high) as Virginia where it is easier to obtain a carry permit and people are allowed firearms to defend them selves and their homes.

If every one having guns was a bad idea, you could look at any city in Texas and see10+ shootouts in a day and you do not see that. the combination of enforcing the law and an armed populace actually keep the crime rate fairly low. Much lower than those places that guns are more tightly controlled.

you fear what you do not understand and having not been raised around firearms you are probably a bit hesitant or even fearful. i have been raised around them i have tried to raise my son around them. so there is a comfort level there. good training is the cure for your condition and shooting on a range is fun. i feel that if the time comes that i have to defend my family with a firearm i could and, being an American, I have that right.

I think the back ground check should be rather simple, history of domestic violence? no, history of mental illness? no, convicted felon? no. 3 days later you get ur gun.

Yes, if someone breaks the law using a firearm, I want to be able to have access to the protection necessary to protect myself, my family and my propery. A nuclear warhead? No but like my dad said, thats a very far fetched and unrealistic example. Like I said before It HAS been proven through data that gun ownership reduces the crime rate and yet people want more gun control because they use stuff like columbine and other shootings to back up their story when in fact, their ignorance over such things puts the m in the wrong...

If we don't have gun control then people will be able to by automatic guns, like an AK, and then can go on shooting rampages far more effectively than what we have seen. Also, then people should have the right to own long range missiles if they can own w/e gun they want.

Also, gun control, if not implemented universally, will lead to higher crime rates in places where it is illegal to own a gun, like D.C, which can be fixed by across the board fire arm restrictions, not to the point where it is illegal to own one, but where it is harder to own one. Criminal record Etc.
