IQ bad

i have been hering that the USA has the lowest education system and that IQs have been droping rappedle seince the 50s
now i can see how that is true but im alittle new to the whole thing so i need some more opinions

lol, i dont think its hard to see that. but IQ is just a test, it is never, and will never be a true measure to determine intelligence level.

Uhmmm I know IQ can be raised or lowered via personal use, but IQ itself is mostly inherited and hard coded? How can a population get dumber unless that was the genetic drift (over LONG periods of time), or the higher IQs were breeded out. This whole argument is kinda pointless. Education and education levels are another thing, and yes, the US has fallen behind some other countries, but it has also advanced more than others as well. Does the US education system need reforms? Yes. That is what this thread should be about.

To me IQ is a myth you can luck out on certain topics because you like them and wish to assertain more on them IQ is general knowledge but at a semi-higher level. Whats the point in being good at general knowledge? It will get you nowhere anyway

i never did one. i think their pointless. you cah achieve anth u want, its not your IQ hat determines what u can or not do. its just another way to ruin our egos.

IQ is a measure of your potential intelligence, how much capacity you as a person have to learn and how easy it is.

Not a fully functional test thou Aard...and you know that.its not perfectly assembled. its still flawable even in those aspects.

True, all tests are flawwed, and the greater a measure you want that test to be the larger the flaw. All I'm doing is telling you what it's intended to do, and Champ is right, education is not the same as an IQ test.

IQ speaks a lot, but it should be renamed because its not an overall intelligence quotient because many forms of intelligence exist, from the logical and mathematical geniuses to the brilliant painter, some even invent. Someone with a higher IQ will tend to be more intelligent in some manner, it all depends on what they have done with it. And that is all that matters in the end, what you have done with what you are given.

i mean almost every 1 i know in school is dum by the way they act and by there grades
and the reason y i brung up the IQ thing is becouse its true that peoples IQs in USA are failing bad and it has been starting ever sience the 50s
now if u spend all ur time training to b a cook or on a sport and become sucssesful then no ur not stupid
and no im not saying the the US is stupid are any 1 eles im just saying that some humens are making a wrong turn
and if u havent notice that alot of docters out there are indian or from some other country

I have to agree, you need to provide proof of an article by a credible source, not a blog or a college paper.

Btw I'm American born and raised and my IQ is 134, just below genius level.

Dude, screw IQ, it's just a number. I might even restrict certain people because they might feel like they're not smart enough. I just think it's useless.

My point isn't to brag it's to show that you can't judge everyone you meet by their televised image. In terms of broadcasting we are probably the single largest television broadcasting country out there. Unfortunately that effected us in exactly the wrong way, we aired people who were good at acting, something you have to specialize in to be good at, often to the exclusion of all other subjects. Many aspiring actors and actresses probably figured they didn't need anything else, and therefore you get good actors, with no common knowledge or common sense. And of course, people aspire to be what they see most often, and what we see most often are idiots with great bodies. So people emulated everything they had and nothing they didn't, and media always takes advantage of a trend, going so far as to make fun of people who can't name an actor on the currently trendy reality show.

So what develops out of this? If the world likes you you either have to hide your intelligence, or actually waste your brainpower on memorizing show scenes and actor names, and waste your money emulating them, and if you're lucky, people will like you for it enough to get you money, and a lot of it. Enough to travel, enough to get on TV, enough to become a public image, and since the media tells us acting like thugs and punks is cool people do it. Essentially, because of the very thing the shows our image to the world, we've become the world's village idiot.

what aardvark says is perfectly true, Americans are not born stupid, but they have become retarded thanks to media control and all that, so technically, you'll notice that the so-called ideal Americans are stupid, good looking patriots who listen to whatever the TV tells them without a second thought, not to mention all the TV shows host ridiculously stupid issues and never really go against the trends or popular ideas cause they know they might lose money or viewership, which is not the case in many other countries, which actually have press with more freedom (as long as they stay away from murderous army lol)

sucks to be you. Aard's got the right thing going there. yall look like a bunch of idiots to the rest of the world. Americans who come to foreign act like douches. Nowadays, you rarely have any quality shows, showing instead your trends of the time. OC, True Blood, Sth sth Hill, i fucking hated those. It was just people showing what American trended for at the moment. Not to mention americanized movies, with those American Pies and Scary Movies....*sigh*, even Big budget ones, like Transformers...bah, how i hated the second movie

I've taken like three IQ tests, and i can tell you this, a lot of it is just what you know, and i have to say this, its about logic and puzzles and stuff like that, i could hardly sit through it all, IQ maybe dropping in the U.S due to misplaced values, like education not being an important priority. This could cause a decrease in IQ means. But still, natural selection should burry the point, that we are ACTUALLY getting dumber, immediately.

also, IQ is just a number people, its not actually intelligence, i mean dear god, how can anyone know how intelligent someone actually is except by their achievements. IQ can just be thought of as a rough estimate supported by human phycological studies.
