Title says, share and explain!

I'm going with Mohammed, from the foundation of the three great Islamic Empires to the establishment of terrorist organizations and many middle eastern countries and to the Zimbabwe city states of yore, extending throughout Africa, even via northern routes, Islam spread affecting the cultures of Africa, and, as an extension, through Spain, Europe, with their inventions and culture, and even threatening Europe itself, under Suleiman, the Ottoman Empire. In fact, as you can see today, Mohammed's religion affects the world continually, and in a more dramatic and noteworthy fashion than any other religion or person's legacy.

Ben Franklin, he harnessed the idea of electricity and allowed other scientists to continue his work in a more advanced time. That led to Thomas Edison creating a more usable invention which used this electricity which also led to more and more ways this electricity was used until life as we know it in advanced societies revolve around it.

Well if you don't count religion, then ofc I'll say Jesus Christ..But for those that don't believe in him, I'd say

Confucius - His philosophy emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. These values gained prominence in China over other doctrines.

Muhammad PBUH since he laid down Islam and the moral code that has affected the world greatly, but not in the way nihil suggests. Islam was the call that eventually led to the Arabs deciding to get off their bums and study science and math. Basic mathematic and scientific functions were learned by the Arabs as a direct result of Islam urging them to discover the universe scientifically, and that info was later passed on the Europe, which did not use it for a few centuries but eventually got something going for them. On the other hand, Arabs got lazy again and forgot to follow Islam and you know see the result.

Furthermore, I agree with Nihil on the vastness of the empire which has influences from Africa, to Spain to the subcontinent.

They kind of took Spain out of the dark ages as well.

And so many other events happened as a result of Muhammad (PBUHs) preaching that have really affected this world in a great way.

If it weren't for Arabs europe would still be in the Dark Ages because they never had any intiative to learn, they were essentially barbarians. Oh and there would be baths once a month still. >.>

LMAO for some reason I read the title as "What PERSIAN" and was about to come in here because I thought it was a race flaming thread lol

And Nihil I counter with Jesus. Jesus has had much more influence on a wider global scale than Muhammed. Although granted, after the terrorists blew up the towers it seems islam is blowing up with popularity (haha I made funny). Kinda weird that all these people who were christians are flooding to islam now, my take on it is they are a bunch of cowards who are scared and think that if they convert the mean old terrorists will leave them alone. Of course this is all subconcious in their minds, they may not even know they are cowardly.

Probably the Beatles...

They sorta headed the whole hippie movement and experimentation of music and "other" stuff.

But then there's people who actually changed the world.

I think maybe Jesus.

He was a big part of the reason that Rome fell. Also, Christianity is still a huge part of the world, and the whole US of A was built on Christian beliefs.

Because thats contradictory. If you believe he didn't exist, then how was he influential. Now the teachings is different but if you don't believe in God then you don't believe in his teachings. Thats like believing in a painting but not the painter who painted it.

But its a logical fallacy to believe in the teachings of someone who you believe to be non-existent... Others can believe but if you truly didn't believe in God, then you wouldn't believe in the change or the influence he had because of teachings. Why? Because you don't believe in him to begin with. Logical fallacy...
