So uh, why does he need to join this? Being part of the Retired Members group gives you more perks then this, and he's already a part of that.

Kinda works like this:
(Lower)---------------------------------------------(Higher)
Guest - Friend - Ally - Retired Member - Full Member

Guest = No privileges beyond playing on a public server
Friend = Access to Semi-Private server. Little more benefit of the doubt.
Ally = Access to Semi-Private server. Fairly higher benefit of the doubt. Special terms as per Alliance agreement.
Retired Member = Full access to private server. High benefit of the doubt. Voice in clan affairs. Retain most benefits as when they were a clan member.
Full Member = Full access to private server. High benefit of the doubt. Voice and vote in clan affairs. Full benefits as a clan member.
