so it doesn't matter that the legislation denied the right of individuals and organizations their right to political speech 90 days before an election? the SCOUS upheld the limits on 'soft money' and struck down the portion that limits free speech.

The First Amendment says, "Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech...or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" For many, the McCain-Feingold bill removes this First Amendment right. Just who are the losers? It is the average citizen who wants to be a part of others to bring attention to an issue by pooling their funds and effort. This bill would muzzle those of us who are doing just that. But to no ones' surprise, the rich and powerful, the incumbent office holders and the powerful liberal media are exempt from the restrictions of this bill.

Your logic is flawed, it doesn't make sense that we allow multi-billion companies, Microsoft, throw their money at a campaign to show their interests.

Business is business, private, for money, for profit

Government is centralized, it is public, for the greater good, and not for profit, in a sense.

Unless, of course, you want to privatize the government, because, in effect, that is what you have done, campaigns can largely be bought.

I'm not saying I support every part of that old bill, but I'm saying that allowing corporations to spend into campaigns certainly puts it so that private business interests influence elections. Elections voice the will of the people, therefore, private interests should play no role.

You want china contributing to a communist or pro communist candidate of some sort?
