Crew Skills help...
Alright. Someone please give me the skinny in crew skills. I have diplomacy and investigation just cause I like the idea of them but I noticed these are rarely ever picked. What's the deal with these things and what is best to focus on.

This is what I tell people almost every day on fleet when they ask this.
Literally all your answers dealing with what combinations you need with your crew skills is inside the Codex Tab, when you press the L key (Mission Log). Then go to Crew Skills.
What you have there are gathering skills. The kind that doesn't match.
Can you make money off of them? Yes you can, by selling some of the individual items those skills grab. You can make good money when you max the skills out, by the way.
In order to craft an item, you need a combination of Two gathering skills and one crafting skill. Each class has a recommended Crafting skill that could benefit their class. For instance, any class that wields the Force (Consular/Inquisitor/Knight/Warrior) you choose synthweaving. Synthweaving is for creating clothes for Force users. You don't have be one of those classes to train synthweaving, you can be any. The gathering skills also branch off and help other crafting skills as well.
Maybe you want to be in charge of creating Medpacks and Stims? You will go down this path: Biochem makes the stims/meds(Crafting skill), Bioanalysis(Gathering), Diplomacy(Gathering)

I see. Thanks. But so far the crew skills belong only to my companion, not me. That's normal, right? and as an f2p we can only have 2 skills.

You're companions do ALL the crafting. The gathering is also done by the companions, you can also join along in gathering. When you are on a planet, look for symbols that look like asterisks, those are for gathering.

I'd pick Treasure Hunting. It brings you lots of stuff and i almost don't need to buy anything. :-) But i had to fuck with money loss at the start, but it was ok later. :-)

Your best picking something that your character would benefit from, Like medpacks, or even transportation

Well i got synthweaving and archaeology now cause my companion is good at it. But alas, i can only have 2.
