LoaS coordination thread
OK, so rules.
1. In Life of a Soldier the average joe takes precedent. So no Jedi/Sith stories unless they're part of a larger story that ultimately supersedes the individual in favor of the group. No Force-Sensitive characters either, unless they're a cameo to tie into DoaJ or given minor rules that are mixed thoroughly with your non-FS characters.
2. LoaS takes place during the Crusader war, this war is stated to have been going on for over a year so date your segments, tell us where in the war they take place using day # or days # - # and remember not to go over two years as our characters will be finishing it up before that mark.
3. You can do your stories however you want, keep them going as long as you want or close them after one installment. So when you post mark it as either Unfinished, Continuous, or Completed.

3. You can do your stories however you want, keep them going as long as you want or close them after one installment. So when you post mark it as either Unfinished, Continuous, or Completed.
- Unfinished: This means you intend to do something else with your story soon and what you have done is subject to rapid change. My own first segment(in 4 posts) is marked as Unfinished because I plan to jump in right where I left off and I intend to do so soon. If a segment is marked Unfinished it means you should probably not interfere with the characters, if you do feel the need to do so however you need to closely consult with the creator on every action the character takes and every word they speak, and in the end they hold veto power over everything you do with the character so be careful. In order to discourage people from always marking a segment with Unfinished there is a limit, if you don't do something with the story in the course of a month the segment moves from being Unfinished to Continuous. Unfinished should only EVER be used if you have an immediate idea of where you intend to take the story.
- Continuous: This means you are satisfied with where the characters are, but would like to come back and do something later on. That can mean a time jump or even immediately picking up where you left off but in a completely different direction. Continuous segments invite others to add to your story, but you are never out of the loop, any major decisions still have to be run by you, but the minor character traits default to what you have established. Major decisions are things like love interests, vendettas, major military operations, death of a closely tied side character, and of course main character death. If you do nothing with a story marked Continuous in 4 months it is considered Completed.
- Completed: This means you are done with the characters all together. You may come back at some later point and do something with them, but their story is done and you open it up to anyone who wants to take a crack at them. The only consultation you need to make with someone who has a completed story is actually killing the characters, otherwise it is assumed the conflict you have given them is resolved and their character is firmly established and subject to evolution by others.

Re: LoaS coordination thread
OK I have FINALLY edited everything up so you guys have a nice handy picture guide. Every ship, save the one I made up, and every species is linked the first time it is brought up to a picture of what it looks like. And doing that kinda killed the flow I had when I broke it up, but it's all there after some haggling with the forum code.
So yeah, no complaining that you don't know what you're supposed to be imagining in your heads, anything I didn't describe is linked to a picture. I'm even seeing what I can sketch out of the M-wing.

Re: LoaS coordination thread
Good post, the quick tense changes from present to past get a little disorienting in some places though, especially in dialog. A common writing trick to avoid this is to place descriptions of the characters and environments in the past tense while the character's thoughts and voice speak in the present tense.
For instance if you're describing as the author that someone has blue eyes you would phase it "her eyes were a deep blue" whereas if this was a thought it would be more along the lines of "her eyes are such a deep blue" same with it being a spoken line.
Sometimes present tense does creep in, but that's usually when describing one or more events in a single sentence meaning instead of saying "He rolled. He evaded their fire." which can be clunky it would be "He rolled, evading their fire." This brings the present tense in relative to the action immediately preceding it, but the beginning action of the sentence should always be past tense.
I know that sounds like nit-picking, but it lessens confusion and gives you a better flow.

Re: LoaS coordination thread
I do have SOME stuff written to continue the story I started, but it's all very boring. Mostly it's setup stuff, formations, command structure, spontaneous bonding; important stuff to be sure, but mostly because it will lay the ground work for future set-pieces.

Re: LoaS coordination thread
should be done with my LoaS piece some time this week. the story will be more confined in Imperial space, and I like what im doing with this much more than what ive previously posted. The imperials will be taking part in what I will be calling, "The Skyfall Incident", around the same time the crusader war begins it's roll. aaannndd you'll have to wait to see what that is
