Re: looking to upgrade my comp
OK so what OS do you have?
for XP
To get general specs right click on my computer and select properties.
other wise you right click on my computer and select manage.

Re: looking to upgrade my comp
oh wow, a computer with AMD processor. you can squeeze a lot out of that baby if you put down the money for it. THEN AGAIN, its a sempron....:/. and a 2.3
Intel has better modules on that category/age.
but yeah, a video card should be priority here. then the RAM.

WELL THEN, video card is safest bet. I would suggest downgrading to XP, since with your ram its the easiest way to save. Also, Vista sucks major fucking greasy hairy sticky balls.

^This.
7 is good but if you're limited on RAM, XP would be best until you get some more. When you do, upgrade to 7. It's a lot better than Vista, looks great and works well.

Re: looking to upgrade my comp
i would need more information on the specs of the box then to get specifics. what kind of vid slot do you have? PCIe is fairly AGP has been common as well. you would also need to know what type of RAM you have to look at prices. there are a couple of places i would recommend to get vid and RAM.

^Has good prices on components.

Re: looking to upgrade my comp
In order for you to get a new card Bob we need to know your Motherboard, unless it's PCIe compatible your gfx card choices will be very limited. And anymore sound card is combined with graphics card. Your Motherboard will also determine how much RAM you can use, there's a limited number of RAM slots and a limited amount of RAM you can put in each slot depending on the board.

Re: looking to upgrade my comp
allow me to direct you to the GPU (Video card) benchmark website.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/
Further more, I suggest a AMD processor, you can get better for less compared to the intel processors at the lower end. nVidia can be a bit pricey but their cards are more supported by games while Radeon/ATI is usually stronger.
On the subject of changing shit: Stay at XP if you can if you have known that for a while, 7 can be a bit of a bitch at times.
As others have stated: 7 if you got the ram, I suggest at least 6g+
Video card: Radeon you want 5000+ series.
Don't bother with a sound card, the ones built in are usually fine as it is and I doubt your doing musical stuff. (And if you were I would suggest a pre-built Mac then.)
