Which is best to you?
Best Storyline
Which Star Wars game series had the best storyline? This isn't a question of gameplay or graphics, but an actual question to plot. Purely in terms of story, which was the best?
There are five series I can see worth considering: Rogue Squadron Series, Jedi Knight Series, Battlefront Series, Old Republic Series, Force Unleashed Series.
Rogue Squadron is a between movie kind of game meant to give you an experience of what went unsaid in the years between each movie. As such it has a bit of a weaker story because of it's lack of independence, but does the filler quality make up for it's dependency on the films?
Jedi Knight is one of the first Star Wars games that had an entirely independent storyline, forcing more traditional characters into the background to bring new in-depth characters to which you could control their fate, but was that first stab at an independent story the best one, did the sequels improve that experience?
Battlefront was a game series that ran along with the movies and gave you specific insight into what happened at each stage of battle for both the Galactic Civil War and the Clone Wars, but there was very little story element, in fact it has the weakest story of any game, but is that lack of an in-depth story what made people love it?
KotOR was the most comprehensive of all independent series and drew absolutely nothing from the movies. It was truly the first Star Wars game to have complete creative freedom. It told you a story you hadn't heard before. Did that venture away from the movies strengthen the game's story?
The Force Unleashed is an odd game, it had a lot of freedom of design, but given the time period it shouldn't have had so much leeway. It answered one of the basic questions from the movie by supplying the origins of the Rebel Alliance, but did they overdue it by giving no mention of such a pivotal event?
Fellow nerds, what are your thoughts?

Re: Best Storyline
I've looked over all this myself in spare time, and to me it's down to just two storylines: Jedi Knight Series, and Old Republic Series. Both game had fantastic storylines for both the original and sequel, and both have a questionable storyline for their third installments. JK3 rehashed the story from JK2, and as a result had good gameplay but a tedious story, the only redeeming aspect was the dark side ending. TOR is rehashing a Jedi v Sith Civil War that I've played once and read about half a dozen times, and the only redeeming aspect to it is that neither side is particularly at war when you play it, there's an uneasy peace. Overall I'd have to give it to Old Republic because it's one redeeming aspect is better then JK3's one redeeming aspect.

1. TOR
its game are just great storyline wise
2. JK
while academy wasnt the greatest game in the world the others were pretty good
3. Battlefront
1 i dont remember very well it didnt impress me much but 2 it told a nice story about the 501st 1 i enjoyed playing
4. Republic Commando
i rly loved this game when i had it installed for telling yet another clone trooper story
5.Rogue squadron
6. Empire at war
7.force unleashed
take away this games graphics and u will expose a story that when compared to the SW game's before, it lacks

Yeah I'm strictly going with a game series. Going with Single games and you'd be listing thousands.

Re: Best Storyline
Aard, ik you havnt played the jk1 storyline, its more of a setup that JKO branched out of, for gameplay, but i havnt found a storyline that was more fun to play threw with secrets that gave you decent weapon and ammo caches, that diddnt rig you. I loved the jk1 storyline and i still havnt beaten the JKO storyline, and ofc i beat the jka storyline in a day... JKA was a disapointment but JKO was done well so far, even tho im still completing that storyline.

Re: Best Storyline
all of them but battlefront imo. battlefront didnt actually have a true story line. it was more about a clone's perspective in the second one which was great

Re: Best Storyline
the ultimate site edition for the force unleashed was...interesting to say the least, showed an alternate version of the original trilogy in a way..though I much prefer the kotor series and jedi knight series.. Rogue Squadron series had good graphics even on gamecube!?! and was a lot of fun for me though as well....... meh I choose erm...................kotor lol

Re: Best Storyline
without thinking KOTOR ofc
am personally impressed with TFU (without latter adds), maybe cos its main character and me have smth in common and i love to see in any story whats happening between some important things especially if u build strong connection between urself and the character, which is what i do with RP in nwn2 all the time, am afraid about TFU2, will know once when i beat it myself, but KOTOR is something what i actually translated on serbian to show other how good story it is, i translated it from game, cannon version, and it helped me to learn english a lot better, i beat the game 20+ times, and second part as well 20+ times, in time it became boring to me and i started to love other games, well to play other games, but i love kotor very much
when TOR comes in life, it will probably throw nwn2 game of first place on my list of best games
