Re: Richard Dawkins compares creationism to holocaust denial
I dont see why they have to remove Evolution. When i was in school, they teached Creationism as a theory of life formation. It worked a lot like the atomic models, or the solar system formation models. the first model was called creationism, yadda yadda yadad, then in 1700 sth a guy cmae and said animals transform, then another guy came and made it more credible , and so on and so forth. Of course biology focuses more on the evolution theory because it is most widely accepted AND has the most data and processes to teach. Creationism can be resumed to a few sentences, so it doesnt take that much time to teach it.

Re: Richard Dawkins compares creationism to holocaust denial
Dray pretty much summed it up, I am fine with evolution being taught, I have never really been taught creationism in school, so hard to comment on that. Dawkins is a noob in my opinion.

Not by definition a noob, but he has been called one of the most notorious atheists of all time, but all he really does is bash religion, not even God. Bashing religion or finding flaws within it does not prove God does not exist. And I am not just saying that because I do not agree with his views, there are atheists that I respect that have a better arguments, that call some of his arguments the worst.

Ya but I don't like Richard Dawkins much either, he is just one of those guys who make their life goal something as stupid as expunging organized religion from society. Its like, well guess what, cavemen did it and I don't see any sign that we ever stopped being related to them and that we have ever stopped believing what a guy in a dress tells us, instead of what we read in SCIENCE BOOKS, and instead call those CONSPIRACY THEORIES ARGALWAFFLEFRAFFLE! lol waffle. Society will, on its own, move away from organized religion, possibly even deities of any sort, in the long run. My message to Richard Dawkins is, "We are all tired of you, we get it but you don't help solve the problem, it doesn't work, especially when you attack their religion vehemently, thats when they shut you off completely"

I advise you to go read the Description of what this Forum Section is for. Your sentence was probably one of the most redundant ive ever heard in here.

Dawkins thinks religion is dangerous, and it is. That is why is he is so vehemently against it. He views it not only as a threat to humanity, but as a threat to our evolution and progress as a species. I sorta concur with most of his beliefs, I just do not believe he goes about it the right way all the time.

Thats the point Dawkin tries to make. He is against organized religion and thinks that not only has it caused mankind woe in the past, but will in the future as well unless man does away with the "God delusion".

Ask yourself why they had to stop calling it creationism and start referring to it as intelligent design . If you have the truth on your side you don't have to use dishonest tactics. They act as if disproving evolution will somehow make them right
Sums up the creationist movement.

Re: Richard Dawkins compares creationism to holocaust denial
I have found a few christian religions that do act more christ like than others. Born agains, Jehovahs Witnesses to name a few, although born agains appear to be condescending at times. The Witnesses are by far the most christ like of christians I have ever seen. I personally would not mind such religions on the earth, although I am sure with time, branches of them or the mainstream religion itself will warp into something evil, like all religion has the tendency to do over time.

As for evangelical young earth creationists, instead of spending $27 million on a creation museum...how about, oh I don't know, giving it all to the poor?

The catholic church is by far one of the most affluent entities in history, sitting on almost 1 trillion dollars (thats 1000 billion dollars) in assets including Gold, Stocks and Bonds and raw Cash. The ability of the church to literally change the face of the earth in ONE day is unparalleled. They could release that money to Africa and feed, clothe and medicate the entire continent for YEARS to come.

That's disgusting and evil. Not to mention the other scandals the church is involved in, there has even been talk of arresting the pope when he travels

Re: Richard Dawkins compares creationism to holocaust denial
Oh it's fine to be against religion, but if a religion is wrong, that does not mean God doesn't exist. That's one of the only problems I have, don't call yourself an atheist if you believe God exists but are against religion. I don't think religion in general is dangerous. It really depends on which religion, I think we could all agree that Voodoo is a fairly destructive religion. Some could say that Christianity is destructive too, but like Gandhi's quote, and I know it might get annoying to hear, but they aren't true Christians, simple as that. Christianity is based on the teachings of Christ, did Christ teach to kill as many people in God's name for the Holy Land? Christ didn't even say to fight for the Holy Land. Christ specifically taught AGAINST things like these.
If you remember correctly, religion, Christianity at the main, was extremely thought as royal. People thought they could just buy their way to Heaven. But with it being royal, it was one of the easiest grabs for power.
People like Christopher Columbus came and destroyed the Native's land in the name of Christ, but was it really for Christ? Did Christ really teach that it was okay to slit someone's wrists till they are just hanging off? Did Christ teach that it was okay to hang parents, kids, animals, just because people were different? No, Christ taught to love thy neighbor, who is a neighbor? The parable of the Good Samaritan tells us that everyone is a neighbor.
de las Casas was one of the main apologists for the Native treatment and how people vainly used Christ's name. People did things that were completely separate from religion but did it in religion's name. Think about if I found an atheist who killed thousands of people, or how recently in Nigeria, hundreds of Christians were killed for being Christians, by atheists. Is it fair to say atheism is dangerous? Sorry to sound repetitive, I just don't agree with the 'religion is abuse' movement.
And I agree with that Claudio lol

I find it funny that you mention voodoo when not once have I ever been maltreated by a practitioner of it, nor have I ever seen on the news countless millions or even thousands or even tens of people getting injured or killed because of it. Christianity on the other hand has literally MILLIONS of lives worth of blood guilt on its hands (the preachers blessing troops in WW1 and 2, Crusades, etc). On the other hand, I have to deal with laws and legislature pushed into politics by the christian church. Such as certian liquor laws, curfews etc. Christianity as a whole is a hypocritical cess pool. I do not doubt you can find good christians and even good churches (look no further than Aragorn and his Dad). But they are by far the complete and miniscule minority. Religion is a dangerous force, and while it would seem practical to allow it to continue since some of it is benign, that is like saying you will allow a tumor to stay in your body because it is not malignant.. .yet.
