La Cosa Nostra

La Cosa Nostra is a faction based on respect and loyalty. If people do not respect you or are loyal to you, you get no power. Simple as that.

Of course, that is only the description. The actual organization is rather complex.
In order of ascension, the ranks are Outsider [OUT], Associate [IAT], Soldier [SOL], Capo [CAP], Underboss [UND], Don[DON], and Over Don [DON] (see ranks and how to ascend) with an additional rank of Consigliere [CON] usually under the Underboss, though in some Families it is under the Don.

La Cosa Nostra is the only RP faction which is divided within itself by a matter of necessity. It is organized into Families. A Family consists of at least three soldiers and a Don, though it may contain as many Soldiers as the Don can control. The way to form a Family is simple. First, become Made (see ranks and how to ascend). Then, get three Soldiers to think you deserve to be a Don. Break off from your Family, along with your Soldiers. You are now a Don. If you lose Soldiers, to the point where you have less than three, you retain the title (provided you kept them for three months), but you cannot vote as a Don (See ranks and how to ascend). This is the simpliest way, though it may be difficult. A more traditional way is simply to get ranks, till a Don gives you his power. This may be difficult, but Dons do retire.

Ranks and how to Ascend

Outsider; You have been accepted into La Cosa Nostra, but have not been accepted by a family. You may participate, but not rank up till a Family accepts you.

Associate; You have been accepted by a Family, but not yet become a Made Man. You are expected to fight for your Family and against others, though show respect to ALL soldiers, no matter the Family. You have not yet earned the right to insult a Made Man.

Soldier; The first real rank. You are officially accepted into a Family. You are now a Made Man. You have the authority to essentially boss around all Outsiders, but don't be harsh on them; they may turn against your Family.

Capo; The first command rank. You have been designated by your Don to manage up to four Soldiers. Essentially, you are a mini-Don. No Capo may have more than four Soldiers; a new Capo must be named. Capo's may only be named from your ranks of Soldiers. You can leave your Family to join another, but that may prejudice the other Don's and Families against you.

Underboss; Training to take over the reigns of the Don. Often has a group of Soldiers himself, the Underboss is sometimes charged with managing situations that are non-critical in order to get him or her some training.

Don; The leader of a Family. You are to respect ALL Dons, no matter what your Rank is. If you are another Don, be polite. If you are the Over-Don, be polite. If you are the queen of England, be polite. A Don is always refered to as Don (name) not Don (Family name). A Don may be refered to as Godfather in a term of respect.

Over-Don; A really unofficial Rank. When there are three or more Families, Over-Don's are used to keep control. They are elected by a 70% or higher vote. An Over-Don is not required, and is always kept secret. If there are a large amount of Families, there may be two Over-Dons; one currently in power, one preparing in secret to take it from him. Either way, no Soldier or Capo is expected to know this. Whether the Consigliere and Underboss knows or not is up to the Don for them.

Consigliere; Serves as an advisor to the Don. Very trusted, keeps all his secrets. A Consigliere is possibly the most trusted person in the entire Family, and second in respect to only the Don himself. Whether the Consigliere has more power than the Underboss is up to the Don to decide. The Consigliere is not on a path to lead, but may if he wants to; this provides experience that is very useful.

How to ascend; Get the Don to think you deserve it. All Don's have different requirments. Some are very strict and run their Family almost Military, others are very light in their rule, not taking more power than necessary. The Don's are not obligated to tell you what they look for.

Terms

Omerta; Code of Silence. In the real Mafia, this is used to keep Soldiers from spilling. In this, it is to keep the power of the Families strong; NEVER indicate there is division within the Family. That may invite other Families to try to turn a small crack in the armor into a giant hole with a Lightsaber in it.

Current Families list

Currently, there is only one Family; Vorrac. This is run by me. Big surprise.

I currently have no Soldiers, but, since a Family is required to get things going, I'll be staying Don. Woo! Since there is only one Family, there is no Over-Don. Once again, no one but the Don's will be certain to be informed if there is a change in that.

One more thing; There will be no Family which is taken from the Godfather. NONE. Infact, it would be best if you used a Star Warsy name for your Family. But feel free to become a Luca Brasi for me. I could always use one.
