Jedi application and the Jedi Code
Welcome to the Jedi Enclave. The Jedi are an ancient order of warrior monks who keep the peace in the galaxy. Please fill out the form below, and paste it in a new thread in this forum if you wish to join us!
1. Why do you feel you would make a good Jedi?
2. When confronted with a hostile situation, do you take physical action or attempt to resolve it through diplomacy?
3. What are your goals in the Jedi Order?
4. What do you think is more important, skill or attitude?
5. How patient are you?(1 being "Gotta have it now," 10 being able to wait months).
The Jedi Code has been used to teach Jedi for millenia, it is one of the oldest tenants of the Jedi and it is the first taught. The words are a guideline to the everyday living of a Jedi, and are relevant to all Jedi, no matter how much mastery of the Force they possess.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.
"There is no emotion, there is peace." Jedi realize that all manner of creature are born with emotions, but it is the control of these emotions that sets sentients apart from the rest. Act in emotion and you only act out of a personal desire, but act out of peace and you will give a fair judgment to all involved.
"There is no ignorance, there is knowledge." Knowledge is one of the most potent tools in a Jedi's arsenal, it is his knowledge that tells him of precedents, it is his knowledge that tells him of techniques, and it is his knowledge, that puts it together. Through ignorance you gain only failure, but through knowledge you gain success.
"There is no passion, there is serenity." Passion may fuel you momentarily, but it is the serene conviction that what you do is right, that gives a Jedi true strength. When you are at one with yourself, you do not doubt yourself, and when you have pure conviction, you cannot stop short of achieving your goal.
"There is no chaos, there is harmony." Disorder breeds fear, anger, and catastrophe, while harmony brings order, balance, and peace. When the environment harmonizes with the people living in it, a true society is formed.
"There is no death, there is the Force." The Force is the power of all living things, and it is this power that makes a Jedi unique. Through this power no one dies, they just hibernate for a time, until their turn comes to shine in the wonder that is life. No Jedi need fear death, for it is only part of a natural cycle, one they will relive again and again.
