Banning someone Empty Banning someone

Recently Union has been in conflict with some jerk who claims to be able to get around any ban. This raises a question I've wanted to ask for a while. First of all, I can't get range bans to work on my server. How is done correctly?

Aard I could use your server expertise on this one. Thanks.

you REALLLY wanna avoid range bans. if you ask me, just silence him and play with him, turn the fun onto your side, instead of his.

We did that once, but the kid kept reconnecting.

Maybe that's a better idea. What I did was silence and sleep him and left him alone.

Shadow, if You have japlus mod then there You have admin tool to fast use cmd against any players. You find it in japlus folder.Called admin.cfg.
In game /exec admin
and you need just use few kays to moderate your server. Ofc when you logged as admin.

To make range ban...You can do it by few ways.
first making by cmd in console...terrible way
Use RconSE program to administrate your server
Change ban list by ftp server, for it u can use WinSCP program.

so, if ip looks like this xxx.xxx.xx.xx for example you put into ban list not fully ip like this xxx (proablu baned whole country). xxx.xxx (baned some city or zone). xxx.xxx.xx (baned some like zone web). xxx.xxx.xx.xx (player baned)
To be honest, range ban dont working against few specific dynamic ip systems like Neostrada in poland.

Ah you need my guide to torturing dynamic IPs.

If FFA:
Silence
Sleep
Rename
Ghost
Mindtrick

This means the person cannot interact at all, cannot be seen by anyone who isn't an admin and cannot see anyone.

If a team gametype:
Lock both teams
Silence

Oh I've got admin torture down to a fine art. If you really wanna have some fun, force them to spectate too and they will be completely frozen in place. You can even set that to admin gun and script it so it'll all be executed on the person at one time, no muss and fuss if they recon.

During the first week of the server being up, some random guy came on and started being racist. I slept him and silenced him many times but he would reconnect. I gave all the Union members merc and told them to hunt the guy, ha.

But You just remeber is not all cmd works on all types games. For example You cant sleep any on TFFA game type, same with ghost cmd.

But Aard way is good ...if you have time and patience for it Smile
Still You can use admin.cfg script for most of this cmds

Actually I prefer gametypes with very limited admin powers. Mainly because you don't have a group of people begging to be an admin when there's not much benefit. Another plus to this is that everyone has to start small in the admin ranks, and in gametypes besides FFA there's no fun until you get into the council level admin.

Thanks for the advice guys Smile.

You can modify what each level has shad by using the bit calculator.

Best way to deal with them in a team gametype is lock team and silence that way no one can even see his name in check score.
