A Super Hero? Empty A Super Hero?

Post by Aragorn Fri Mar 26, 2010 2:47 am

What constitutes a super hero to you and why. I don't believe Batman is a super hero, just a guy with a lot of money and the wisdom to use the money well. I would consider him a hero because of what he does, but not a "super" hero.

Hmmm... Super hero to me is like someone who would save the world with his or her powers, resources etc. Hero would be like batman who just fights for Gotham. Although, I'd consider spider man a super hero... hmm... Idk. I think maybe just the personalities maybe. Batman has a darker side for instance.

i think you are taking the "super" part as having powers of some sort. that is not the concept of it when it was created. it is meant to take a person who dedicates his life to being a hero.

Not necessarily, Dray. A person dedicated to being a hero doesn't make him "super" that makes him dedicated. By your line of thinking, fireman are super heroes, when we all know there isn't anything super about them. They are normal humans like you and me, just with different knowledge. The super part of the hero has everything to do with their powers, hence the super part.

Wolverine has rabies and captain america is under recession.

Very Happy

Anyway i classify a hero in general as a person who doesnt have powers, or is rich. A hero is someone who cares for others and who puts his or her friends before him or herself.

Under the classification of "super" hero i'd say is a fictional character with non-real or "un-natural" powers who saves a city from a evil archenemy or threat.

Well. For me a superhero must be really "super". To have unique powers that he uses for good. Batman and Spiderman were the heroes i've grown with.
But for me the best superheroes are the Marvel ones.

wolverine has the best superhero story after batman and marvel's are the best cuz they aren't stupid and unrealistically self righteous . Batman aside, DC heroes all kinda fail. Wolverine helps save a whole 'race' of ppl and ensure world peace loads of times, and he's not a goody goody captain faggoty either. He's also not a bad, ear ring wearing thug who gets hoes either.

A Super Hero is any lone person capable of doing what the Police and Army are, or more, but alone. Towards a morally correct end of course if immoral or selfish then they're a Super Villian.

I'm a superhero and I don't have magical powers!

I tend to agree with Aragorn though in his OP, Batman is not really a superhero but he does superhero deeds so maybe he should still be considered one.

Then half the Marvel Super Heroes are in fact, not super heroes at all. Because odds are, given time and resources, the police/army could handle most of the 'super villains'. This is why I gave my explanation, any single person that can accomplish alone or with few resources, what would take a much higher number of police, or intervention of the army.

Yes but Spider-man? Has maybe double normal strength, flexibility, sticks to walls, and has an early warning system. Cops could do just as he could with enough numbers. Another? Wolverine, intense healing, and metal claws, I can tell you right now that a special forces squadron has more ability then those two things. Dare Devil, increased strength and senses, not even as powerful as Spider-man, a couple cops with a squad car have more ability.

The abilities don't make those characters super, they help, but in the end it's the mind-set and how they use them that gives these the title of Super Hero.
