I would have to agree. The access times for a SSD or, solid state drive, are just sick. when the solve the heat and size problems they are having there will be a whole new generation of super fast hard drives with no moving parts...

So ive been told the dual 285 is wayyyy overkil and I should go with a 5870 or something because it has DX11 support and the 285 doesnt.

There isnt a card that supports DX perfectly ,except DX9.0c one.
Radeon cards failed on some new games and its shitty to see how gamers buy them just for fckin DX11.
You better go with Nvidia GTX Series. And if u have nerves u can wait for GTX430 - Nvidia Style rox lol.
+ Nvidia has Physx and control panel and acceleration and Cuda. And all cool shit that Radeon can only dream about

Just because ATI isnt all 'hip' and go around naming its software advancements with 'hip' names and advertising them all over, doesnt mean they dont have them. ATI is on par with Nvidia technology, its just not called PhysX and Cuda.

Champ, who told you that? 285 belongs to a fairly new set of GPUs. It would be preposterous for Nvidia to not include DX11 compatibility. And i know the kind of person who told you. Its a person who hates video games, or doesnt go much into being picky in them. IT IS OVERKILL. But it will allow you to not buy a computer for a long long time. THAT IS WHY YOU OVERKILL. TO GAIN TIME.

Edit: on another note, it looks like Nvidia was dumb enough not to pre-prepare for this. take the 5870 champ. its the same as mine.

OR wait for the 5970 2GB model.
And new Nvidia will kick its ass.

the 5970 will push up to 1000 more dollars, wich in my opinion, doesnt compensate the upgrade from the 5870.

I am just going to wait a few months for the nvidia cards to get dx11. Ive had bad experiences with ATI before (albeit a few years ago). But it was bad enough for me to want to wait for nvidia.
