How to use the console
This is a tutorial on how to use the console properly, there are many thing that can be done with the console, and I will do my best to list all the functions.
First is opening the console, for those of you who don't know you open the console by holding shift and pressing "~" which is above the tab key and below the escape key. When you do you should open up something that looks like this:
Now for functions. One function of the console is renaming yourself, in order to do this simply type /name (yourname) or /set name (yourname). The difference between the two is how you type your name, if you write your name without any spaces you use the /name function if you want a space in your name you use the /set name function. For instance one of my names would be typed: /name TheBestAardvark , but if I wanted a space I would have to type: /set name The Best Aardvark . Here's a picture to help:
Another thing to keep in mind is that the colors in the name can be changed by typing: ^ and a number, for instance ^1 would be red ^2 green and so on, here's a list of the numbers, each number corresponds with it's color:
Another function of the console is to change lightsabers. To do this simply type /saber and then the name of which saber you would like to switch to, the list is: /saber single_1 for a single lightsaber, /saber single_1 single_1 for two lightsabers, and /saber dual_1 for a staff. There is no proper way to show this without video so you'll have to attempt it yourself. Next time you're on the JvS server try typing: /saber dual_1 in console to get a staff, or if you have a staff /saber single_1 to get a single saber.
A vital function of the console for convenience is what is known as a bind. Binds are simple to set simply type: /bind "a key you want to bind" and then the command you want to use. An example would be /bind ";" name TheBestAardvark. They can also be used to switch lightsabers or to say a pretyped phrase. In order to do this type: /bind "the key you want to bind" say The Phrase You Want To Say . These are pictures to show how and the effects of the binds:
Now you've made quite a bit of progress, but you don't want to lose it now do you? In order to save everything you've done type in console: /write (the name you want to use) For instance: /write kami . Then if you ever lose your information you can just type: /exec (the name you want to use), in console and it will put your settings back the way you want. Here's a picture to illustrate:
And that's your basic tutorial on how to run the console.

Something awesome I found that most of you know already is that you can use Page Up and Page Down to scroll through all of the chat text that has been displayed since you logged on the server that round only in the console.
