How to make a JA+ server Empty How to make a JA+ server

Post by Aragorn Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:39 am

Just what it says, I'll do my best to tell you how to make a server of your very own!

First you'll need to access your japlus folder to get there go into My Computer, C Drive, Program Files, Lucas Arts, Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy, Gamedata, and in that list you should see a folder called "japlus":

How to make a JA+ server Sertu1kp2

Go in there and open up a file called server.cfg:

How to make a JA+ server Sertu2ah3

The next several pictures speak for themselves, just follow the instructions to your specifications:

How to make a JA+ server Sertu3zq1

How to make a JA+ server Sertu4el8

How to make a JA+ server Sertu5ou0

How to make a JA+ server Sertu6cp6

Done? Good because that was the easy stuff, but wait some of you are thinking: "Well how do I adjust the bit values if I don't know them?" Good question, good thing the modders made another Folder in Gamedata that says japlus_tools, it's up in the first picture. Go in there and you'll find two very self explanatory and helpful links:

How to make a JA+ server Sertu7wk3

Now it's time to actually get your servers RUNNING. There are 3 programs called batch files, or .bat for short, in Gamedata too, might want to make a shortcut for the one that works best for you, and the only way to know which works best is through testing them:

How to make a JA+ server Sertu8ha8

How to make a JA+ server Sertu9nb4

How to make a JA+ server Sertu10vy4

How to make a JA+ server Sertu11pq4

For those of you who this worked for the first time. CONGRATULATIONS you now have a server of your very own!!!!

For those of you with more complex problems continue.

So there's one main problem with making a server and that's that the ports it has to go through don't always work, if you have your router information then you can just type in 192.168.1.1 in your Internet Explorer address bar and follow the instructions posted in this Forum: http://www.japlus.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19

How to make a JA+ server Sertu12to1

If you don't however you're going to have to try a fix and pray it works:

How to make a JA+ server Sertu13hc1

How to make a JA+ server Sertu14mg3

If that doesn't work there's nothing I can do, I've specified all known fixes I can find. If you have questions about your server.cfg then pm me through the forum or contact me via X-fire and I'll do what I can to help.

You have to allow the Server program to access the internet by opening ports 29050-29080

I seriously don't even know how you can play this game if you don't even know your own Internet Service Provider...

Let's break those words down, shall we?

Internet: what you are using right now to read this post
Service: Usually something you have to pay for
Provider: someone/ something that provides something. In this case, a service.

So, your looking for some company that provides your intrawebz, like Verizon, Optimum, Comcast or what have you. :serious:
