The Bermuda Triangle Mystery Empty The Bermuda Triangle Mystery

Post by Sqrl Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:08 pm

Out of all the research that has been done, what do you guys think is the reason why the infamous area brings down and sinks planes and ships?

Here are two of the theories, if you think it is something else do specify:

Supernatural Theory/Atlantis Theory

One explanation pins the blame on leftover technology from the mythical lost continent of Atlantis. Sometimes connected to the Atlantis story is the submerged rock formation known as the Bimini Road off the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, which is in the Triangle by some definitions. Followers of the purported psychic Edgar Cayce take his prediction that evidence of Atlantis would be found in 1968 as referring to the discovery of the Bimini Road. Believers describe the formation as a road, wall, or other structure, though geologists consider it to be of natural origin.[18]
Other writers attribute the events to UFOs.

The Methane Gas Theory
An explanation for some of the disappearances has focused on the presence of vast fields of methane hydrates (a form of natural gas) on the continental shelves. Laboratory experiments carried out in Australia have proven that bubbles can, indeed, sink a scale model ship by decreasing the density of the water; any wreckage consequently rising to the surface would be rapidly dispersed by the Gulf Stream. It has been hypothesized that periodic methane eruptions (sometimes called "mud volcanoes") may produce regions of frothy water that are no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink very rapidly and without warning.

So any thoughts on the mysterious "urban legend"? or is it more real than what we think?

It is a magnetic area, filled with dangerous currents and winds. You do not see ships and planes coming down in it anymore That was wheh ships and planes sucked balls.

But yet that isn't my big point, point is what does everyone think caused ships and planes such as the infamous Flight 19 down? Not about planes coming down RECENTLY.

Same thing that makes planes go down all around the world. Environmental conditions, human error, mechanical error. Planes were shit in the past, and didnt last against a lot of things. This myth is just an old pirate story that managed to become famous.

If I had to venture a gas, I would go with the Methane theory.

I think the military shot them down Very Happy

Nah, I think the quality of planes back then + the weather/surroundings there just made planes extremely prone to disaster

I think that certain area just has a lot more turbulence both water and air-wise, so the captains and pilots dun see it coming, probably the same as the plimsoll line, when people didn't know that different parts of the ocean has a different water density, thus making ships sink

Its expected in nature to see certain abnormalities or variables that one cannot account for in practical terms other than winning a natural lottery. I think the triangle is one of those abnormalities. A larger number of planes than normal go down in a region, so instead of it being an abnormality of random chance, it has to have some mysterious explanation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure water's density is always 1.0 g/cm³

in average. and in theory. different liquids possess different density. hence if yo put olive oil and water in a cup, they form layers.

I think its neither. I think statistically and by chance more vehicles have been lost in that area, and thus its now a "ghost" area and even if one ship gets lost its ZOMG TEH BURMUDA TRAINGL ALIENZ!!! In any system of order such as the earth, chaotic variables take place, its nature. The "trinagle" is just one of those variables.

I'd say it's just coincidence. Not all of the disappearances even occur in the triangle. There were a higher number of accidents in an area and someone drew a triangle around most of the crashes in that area on a map. Now whenever something does occur there it becomes news and gets peoples attention further fueling the myth of some magical area where planes and boats disappear, travel through time, get abducted by aliens, or get lost in another dimension.. or something.
