problem is, everyone else gains it.
to be equal to everyone i think u should set the following thing: choose the player who has more total points on all his skills. then subtract the difference between him and each player, and hand that diference to the player. they can then wisely put upgrades with the remaining points on their stats, equalling in total number of points to the most pointed player. then u do the samewith the remaining players, making sure everyone has the same chance.

example:

lets say in total, dawn has 50 points from all his skills. and that he has the most points. u take aard, who has like 42, and u give 8 points for aard to use on his skills.

This is not about equality. This is about realism. PnP (pen n paper) roleplaying is about randomness. Sometimes, like in life, you are dealt shit. You deal with it and do the best you can with it. Sometimes, having a low attribute character vs the rest will give you more pleasure in victory because you might have struggled that much harder while your peers seemed to breeze through it. Other times, a good storyteller will utilize these characters in good ways unknowingly and give them opportunities in the story some super characters may not get.
