How would you do it?
So lots of movie reviewers hate on the prequels, and I admit I've seen a good deal of flaws in them myself, but they're not bad. And I imagine a lot of you have things you think could have been changed for the better. So how would you have done the prequels?

Re: How would you do it?
aye, theyre bad. specially the second one. the first is mostly hate on jar jar and overall goofiness in some scenes. take him out, and they would just see them as not at the same level of the original.
the second one was really bad. the third actually most critics dont hate on it. its an ok movie. just you know, the emo anakin and the vader Noooo, lil parts of the movie that ruin a bit of the experience. wich if you know George Lucas, is actually a very clever homage, but i think he didnt think it thru when puting that scene in.

Nah i like Hayden Christiansan. I'd say fix the fact that Anakin is only like 6 and ends up with Padme whom is like 14.

Re: How would you do it?
Episode 3 shouldve been alot longer. I felt like it was rushed.
Hayden's acting actually excelled in Episode 3 compared to 2, imo
Padme's death....well....
More scene's of Jar Jar with maturity in the senate; Episode 2
Changed Jar Jar's voice completely. They shouldn't have used him as a replacement for r2d2 and c3po
They shouldve showed anakins jedi trial and growth. Instead of it being so abrupt
I know Darth Sidious was the most powerful Dark Lord of his time, and considered in history, but that fight with Yoda (the damn grand master) should have been an all out brawl or have the fight longer.
Episode 1, midiclorians......
They shouldve added in Darth Bane somewhere
well damn, i have alot more :\

Hayden Christiansen is only a good actor when hes angry. if the actor is ONLY good when hes angry...you need to get a new actor

Re: How would you do it?
yeah, hes not the best actor. but i think its more of a very 2D character design. he is black or white, never grey. its always angry or happy. he showed always a monotonic line of thought wich really undermines any acting.
IM ANGRY, IM COMPLAINING, IM RIGHT, IM QUIRKY, IM HAPPY, IM IN LOVE. you just cant put that like that in a movie, you gotta layer it and make it human. hes good at angry because tahts one of the few emotions where expressing it purely benefits you. also, dialogue fucking sucks.
and Darth Bane? thats gay Red. Really gay.

Re: How would you do it?
its gay and stupid. you are viewing this from a fanboy point of view. star wars was never about the EU. he would not fit well in the movies, and if youre talking about mentioning that he created the law of two, thats hardly relevant to the quality of the films.

Its the reason they've been in hiding =_=" and why only two of them had been present. I was just hoping that they would have 'mentioned' him, just like they did plagueios (w/e the spelling)
and I am viewing this from an EU perspective.

Re: How would you do it?
Ah I have a list you see:
Episode 1: First move it back to 60 years before Episode 4, you hear people in the movies saying they've lived in the Empire all their lives and yet it was only around 20 years. Second get rid of gunguns entirely, or make them a whole lot more sensible, as an army they had piss ass shields and their only weapons were grenades with no impact radius, just kill if they happened to come in direct contact, and even then only against droids, seems stupid for a tribal culture without any noticeable artificial life to only have anti-droid weaponry and pissy ones at that. Third make Anakin 8, old enough to have some real-world knowledge but still very impressionable. Other then that it was fine a little bit of goofy-ness before it gets too serious.
Episode 2: First make it happen only five years after the Epi 1, so Anakin is 13, a teenager easily swayed by peer pressure. Second make it so the events in Episode 1 immediately spark a war between the Republic and CIS because the whole ten years and everything is hunky dory is bullshit, they'd start a war within a year. Third make the Jedi as they were in the Mando Wars, a neutral party espousing peace and then make the Republic population resentful of their unwillingness to fight, create tension and a reason for so many people in the Empire to hate Jedi in Epi 4-6. Fourth have this empire conversion happen in this movie, have a subtle reason for it, to get rid of the bureaucracy so they can deal with the war properly, the sudden shift in Epi 3 was unbelievable at best and a complete Deus Ex to move the plot forward at worst. Fifth the story should revolve simultaneously around Anakin and Obi-wan's relationship and how they deal with the hatred, and Palpatine, Padme, Bail, & Yoda dealing with the TOUGH decision of whether or not to "temporarily" switch to an Empire and have more then black and white agreement, Yoda should be fully against it, Palpatine for it, Padme and Bail should be on the fence but eventually give in before realizing what a horrible mistake they've made. Sixth the Purge should be an ongoing thing, where as the Empire they get rid of the Jedi as being a drain on resources needed to fight the war and when the Jedi inevitably try to talk them out of this have a military action taken to get them off-planet, you know something the people would get behind. Seventh this should take place over YEARS not months and ultimately culminate in a resounding win for the Empire to cement public opinion, and a turn to the Jedi as the next enemy, manufacture a reason. Eighth, end it with a To Be Continued theme, ideally this should place the entire Order in the uncomfortable position of being on the run and Padme's burgeoning feelings for Anakin being a Romeo and Juliet feeling of despair.
Episode 3: Big time jump, this would take place around 20-25 years before Epi 4, Anakin would be over 30 and there would be very few Jedi left, Anakin's life would have been one of war and despair with only a few moments of brightness in an otherwise bleak existence, and you would do this to have a REASON Anakin would go dark aside from the spoiled brat factor. Second Anakin alone would be found and captured by the Empire at which point Palpatine would entice him with Padme, and a majority of the movie would be split between their interaction, their feelings and the torment over the decision to finally give in and have a life worth living, and Obi-wan's attempt to locate his old friend. Anakin would ultimately give in and Palpatine would offer him a deal, the location of the remaining Jedi Enclave(s) for a life with Padme. Third Anakin would lead the assault like in Epi 3, while Obi-wan was still trying to save him without realizing what had or was happening under his nose. This would be a campaign lasting a year or two, enough time for Padme to have the children and get to know them giving validation to Leia's claim that she could remember some thing about her mother. The final Act would come when Obi-wan chased Anakin down on the last world hit and literally saw him standing over the bodies of his fellow Jedi where an actual complex scenario would be reduced with dialog until the duel occurred, simultaneously Palpatine would have his agent attack Padme and her children and blame it on the Jedi to foment the spark of anger and hatred growing in Anakin, Padme would get her children to Bail who would get them off-world and split them up so they'd be harder to find, and Padme would subsequently die protecting them. Finally Obi would defeat Anakin and not serve the death blow because he would be chased off by Stormtroopers, Palpatine would play on Anakin's low stated and offer to repair him and train him in the ways of the Sith to finally get revenge on the Jedi. Meanwhile Bail would come to Obi-wan as being essentially the last person he could trust and there the arrangements would be made.
Yeah it's long, yeah it's got plot holes, but I still think it's a more believable scenario.

Re: How would you do it?
Ep1 couldve done well if Qui Gons personality wasn't so dull( I couldn't relate to him and didn't give a damn when he got pwnt by Maul), there was no Jar Jar, and no pod races. The super political opening was also extremely boring. I mean look at the originals there's always something visually appealing/intense action right from the start. You're thrown into the movies and the visuals tell youu what's going on.
I've also always wondered how the movies wouldve turned out had the makers decided to take a more retro approach and use models and stuff for the ships and the filming techniques/special effects that the original movies used. It wouldve been a bit more realistic to have ships that weren't 20x more powerful than the ones that exist 20 years later...

Re: How would you do it?
The ships in the prequels were totally more maneuverable and had many more advanced weapons than ships in the original trilogy. That being said I didn't say I didn't like the effects. I just think it'd be interesting to see how the movies would have turned out had they been filmed at or around the same time as the original trilogy.
The pod races were ok.. I could see why pod races were added seeing how the jedi had to discover Aniken somehow. The concept of medichlorians kind of took away some of the magical mysteriousness of the force. Ep1 could've done without trying to explain the force in a scientific way.

They wanted the battles to look amazing (New generation of Audiences ello >_>). Also, you have to remember the technology they used for the Original Trilogy is like 30 damn years old...
If an X-Wing went agaisnt an ARC-170, the X-Wing would win. Think of it this way, you think an F-16 can out perform an F-22 Raptor?
Would you say the same thing if George had the Tech we have today on the Originals?
