Tell me what you think.

There was once a little boy named Charlie Littertons. Charlie would walk to school and back everyday. He would always have food with him on his walks to and from school. Charlie would walk through the woods, since his house was in the woods. He would always throw away the packaging in which his food was in, be it wrappers, cans, bottles, little boxes; pretty much anything that food was packaged in. In the woods, many of the animals were very upset with Charlie because he was making their home a mess. He was also hurting the animals themselves. One day, the animals decided to set up a trap to teach Charlie a lesson. Charlie had gotten up early the next morning for some Math extra-help, because he was having trouble in Math. Before he had left his house, his mother gave him a little snack for the walk to school. Charlie was walking through the woods, about to open his snack, then, out of nowhere, a squirrel jumped out and grabbed the sack out of Charlie’s hands. “Hey, gimme back my food!” yelled Charlie. He then ran after the squirrel. He knew that if he didn’t eat something, his stomach would hurt in class, because he wouldn’t eat again for another 5 hours. Charlie had eventually caught up with the squirrel. He was panting, trying to get every breath of air into his lungs, and when he started to get up from bending over, he had noticed he was surrounded by various animals; Geese, skunks, ducks, foxes, deer, woodpeckers, raccoons, badgers, toads, frogs, a couple of bears and many, many other animals. The squirrel that had stolen his food earlier spoke up and said “Oi! What’s your name?” “M-my name’s Ch-Charlie; Charlie Litterton” said Charlie, terrified. “Well Charlie,” Said the squirrel ”The name’s Mac, nice to meetcha. Look, Chuck, can I call you Chuck? Whatever, We gotta problem, you an’ me. Now, we ain’t gonna hurtcha, we just wantcha to come with us so we can showya what the problem is, kay?” Charlie, still scared, just nodded and followed Mac. Behind them both, were all of the other animals that had appeared when Charlie got up from breathing. After a short walk, they had all arrived at a small clearing in the woods. The ground was mostly dirt, except the occasional leaf and the area above them was a clear view of the sky. The trees were in a near-perfect circle and there was a little stream nearby, a perfect place to relax in the woods. Mac started to speak “A couple of weeks ago, some geniuses decided it’d be a good idea to play around with some firecrackers in the woods. At least they picked a good place in the woods to do it, although the fact they were playin’ with fire in the woods to begin with is just stupid. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, these kids come into this place, and start exploding firecrackers and stuff. It would’ve turned out well for them, but one-ah them threw one-uh their firecrackers too close to your pile-o’-trash over there, and it started a fire. They freaked out and ran, while we had to stay behind and put it out. I mean, it wasn’t a smart thing to do in the first place, but it woulda been all right if there wasn’t any of your trash lying around everywhere in these woods. Imagine, though, if we couldn’t put it out? This whole area woulda been burnt down; Heavy man, heavy. C’mon, follow me.” This time, Mac had led them all to another stream. In the stream itself there was trash, just floating around, building up on the sides of the stream. Charlie noticed little that there was these little worm like things floating around on the sides of the stream. “I notice you’re looking at the tadpoles.” Said Mac. “The what?” asked Charlie. “Tadpoles” said one of the animals. From the crowd hopped out a frog. “Oh, hey Frank, you wanna take this one?” asked Mac. “I guess I have to, seeing as these are mine,” said Frank looking at the tadpoles. “These tadpoles are my ‘children.’ Your trash is messing with their development, they should have legs by now, but they’re not grown out yet. I’m afraid they’re getting sick, and if they die, I wouldn’t know what to do, I couldn’t stand knowing that they could’ve lived life, maybe even had a family of their own. We try to clean up the trash and stuff, but you always seem to throw a million things away in here,” said Frank, on the verge of tears. At that point, Mac took over. “There’s only one more place I need to show you, it’s-”. Charlie then interrupted Mac, and said, “Look, I’m sorry guys, but I really have to get to school, bye!” He then turned around and ran through the crowd of animals, feeling happy he was finally going to escape, until he ran into a bear near the back of the crowd. This bear was huge, and Charlie was terrified. The bear stood on its back legs and growled, “I suggest you stay. It’s not that much longer, then you’re free to leave. Understood?” Charlie nodded and ran back towards Mac. “That’s Dennis. He’s a nice guy but he’ll crush you if you get him really mad. C’mon, follow me, just one more stop and you’re free to go.” Mac led them to a large tree. This was the biggest tree in the woods, and the biggest tree Charlie had ever seen. The tree had some of its roots out of the ground, and they were all different sizes. Some were as big as Charlie and some were smaller and some were bigger. “What is this place?” asked Charlie. “This,” said Charlie “This is where we bury our friends and family. We’re here because this is where we had to bury Dee’s duckling.” From the crowd, a duck was heard weeping. “That’s Dee. Her son was only 7 months old. It was learning how to walk and saw your trash. It thought it was food and ate it. You can see the results,” said the squirrel. Charlie was very upset. He had not known how much he was hurting nature. He also thought of all the other problems littering had, how it could affect people’s everyday life. “I’m so sorry. Is there anything I can do to help?” asked Charlie. “The best thing you could do is just stop littering.” Said the squirrel. “That’s it?” asked Charlie. “That’s it,” said Mac.

- FIN -

Remember, people, littering is never good for the environment. It effects people and cost a lot of money to clean up. Next time, just wait until you find a trash can and throw your stuff away in that.
