Golden Sabers Competition (GSC)
Rules and Regulations:

These are the time slots available. The first team to post an agreed time slot between the two teams will get that time slot. Postings start 12:00am GMT -5 every Saturday and Sunday. If the GIW takes place during one of these timeslots, the match will either be postponed, or played right after the GIW (As long as PUGs aren’t being played.) These individual matches count as events. Given so, if there are any players on the Clan War server when a match is going to take place, those players should allow the match to occur and then will be allowed to continue playing. Those players, of course, can be spectators of the match; if they do so, they should only talk in team chat to other spectators. If an admin is on it will be extremely appreciated if they help set up the match.

Rules of the Tournament:

Tournament will be done by a randomly selected team pairing, which will go down through a 16 slot bracket. The total teams (16 at most) will be randomly placed into a slot on the 16 slot bracket. Teams placed with each other will select a time slot and will face off to advance in standing (One match a weekend). Each team will face off in a 2 v 2 match against the opposing team in the opposite slot to advance their place in the bracket. The semi-final bracket will have an additional 3rd wildcard team added. This team will be a previous losing team who won in the loser’s bracket. The loser bracket winner will fight the semi-finalist team who had the lowest point difference throughout the whole competition. If the two semi-finalist teams from the winners bracket have equivalent point differences, the losers bracket team can select who they fight. BUT, if there is an uneven amount of teams, the winner of the losers bracket will fight the team that got the free advancement for a place in the bracket.

The battles are simple. Anything goes. Laming, hitting people on the floor, etc are all legal. Team kills, of course, count as well. No flaming will be allowed, however, good hearted jesting is encouraged. If a team does flame, depending on the severity, they will be warned. If the flaming continues in that same match, in a later match, or is severe enough, that team will be disqualified. The teams will decide on a map when they set up their match time. The maps can only be base Jedi Knight Academy maps (Meaning no downloaded maps). If the teams do not decide on a map, the default map will be Tattooine (ffa3). Teams can post which map they’ve selected when they post their time slot. You win by winning 2 out of 3 fights within your time slot. Each fight is to 21 points. During the match you are allowed to change which saber you are using ONCE. If a person changes their saber more than once, 5 kills will be removed from their score. This continues throughout the match, if a person keeps switching sabers 5 kills will be continuously be removed (Can go below zero). The teams will be allowed to communicate through chatting in-game or using a voice server such as xFire or GSC (Not this competition Razz). Only sabers will be allowed during this competition

Each fight will be overseen by a referee or two assigned by the GS Committee. The referee will mediate and administrate fights in case poor sportsmanship or violations of rules (excessive chatting etc) are to happen. This is to ensure a fair, fun, and accurate game and result. Every call by the referee should be supported with a screenshot to help validate the decision, making sure no biased decisions occur. If the screenshot is valid, the game counts. If the call is questionable it will be voted on. If the call is wrong, a rematch game will take place between the two teams.

A team may consist of any JvS member, a retired JvS member, ally or friend. A participant can only be on one team. A team must decide on a name and post in this forum so you may be registered. Once registration is closed, a bracket will be created by the committee. This bracket will be completely random. The teams will be paired by being given a number and then using an online die to see which two numbers pair. (For example: A 4 is rolled and a 9 is rolled, Teams 4 & 9 will be paired for the first match.)

The top 3 teams will be sent a special hilt compatible on the JvS servers, courtesy of Thing944. The overall winners of this tournament will be given a special title on the forums saying ‘Golden Sabers Champion’ to symbolize their winning of the Golden Sabers Competition. This title is ONLY granted to the winning team(s) of the GSC, and can only be given by a forum moderator. The winners of the GSC will also have their name on the forums changed to Gold to help show their renown and status as the GSC champions. Once the first winning team is revealed, a thread named the ‘Hall of Fame’ will be created, listing the Champion team names, members of that team, and the score and opponents of the final match. The Champion team will keep their title forever BUT! In order to maintain their gold names they must keep winning the GSCs. If a team defends their gold status for 3 consecutive GSCs they will obtain the title of GSC Legend. This title cannot be revoked UNLESS another team also obtains three consecutive gold status defenses and challenges the current Legends. If so, those two teams will fight in a match with the normal GSC rules to see who keeps GSC Legend and who is degraded to the normal GSC Champion. If the Legends don’t show up (Both members), the challenging team is automatically awarded the GSC Legend title. If neither team shows up, the current Legends keep their title.

*Note: - These rules are subject to addition and change at any time
- Once a team wins the Golden Sabers Competition, they will forever keep their title as ‘Golden Sabers Champion’.
- If a team wins the Golden Sabers Competition multiple times, their rewards will be altered to be unique, rare, and reflect their renown as the Champions several times.
- One match is the best 2 of the 3 rounds. Rounds are a single fight to 21. The objective is to win 2 rounds in one match.
- You are only allowed to switch your saber ONCE every MATCH!
- Several threads will be opened: Registration, Hall of Fame, Current Winner’s Bracket (Updated after every fight result), Current Loser’s Bracket (Updated after every fight result), a time slot translation table (GMT – 5 into different GMT times), and Current List of Referees.
- Max teams are 16. Bracket will be updated to fit the total amount of teams.
- If these time slots are unreasonable to someone’s time zone, etc, please notify a referee who can bring forth the problem to the Committee and hopefully a solution will be made.
- If a team will not be able to make a match, please contact a referee and from there we can see if we can set up a match during the week.
- If a team does not make a match in a week’s time and doesn’t contact a referee that team will be disqualified and their opposing team will advance.

End Note: Let’s all get some intense matches going and have some fun!
